Thank you so much to those of you who managed to join in the first Cooking with Kids challenge, I was so nervous that no one would join in 😉
As promised, here’s a round up of all the yummy looking entries:
The lovely NotSoSingleMum made hers with sweet paprika to add a Spanish style twist to hers….
Here’s Lil Monkey having fun making his version….
I love MummyMusing’s version made by our youngest baker….
Lilly made some fab ones – with extra cheese….
Another young entrant, Freyja made some lovely ones although there were tears when she couldn’t join them in the oven….
Ella at Notes from Home made some lovely ones, although they didn’t last very long lol…
Feeding my 3 Boys’ entry wasy fab – the cheese straws actually spelled out the word ‘cheese straws’….
I love Seasider in the city’s entry – Dinosaur cheese straws….
I love the healthy twist that Mrs Green added to her version….
I couldn’t choose a winner so I asked the lovely Jen to judge it for me and after some deliberation she chose the entry from Feeding my 3 Boys, thanks very much Jen. The prize for this challenge is an Organised Mum Life Diary and a lovely childrens cookbook, so well done and again, thanks for entering everyone.
THE NEXT CHALLENGE
I decided to keep it really simple for the next challenge and go for cupcakes, because, who doesn’t love a cupcake 😉
We use a standard recipe that my nana taught me, cream together 100g butter and 100g sugar, beat in 2 eggs and fold in 100g self raising flour. Then spoon into cupcake cases and bake at about 180 c for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. The magic comes when they’ve cooled and you decorate them, which is this weeks challenge. You can use traditional butter icing and make fairy cakes, you could try my Nutella frosting or just do whatever you want to do – Go wild 😉
Here’s some we made earlier
Again, there’ll be a prize for the best entry so get decorating and add your pics to the McLinky below before 8 February 2011. Feel free to enter any old posts if you have any cupcakey ones.

Oooh I missed this one – would have loved to join in. I love cooking with my little girl – she's only 22 months but she loves it. Will have to go and hunt out a good cupcake recipe and try and find the time to join in this week. Heather.
