{Updated for 2017}
I know in some houses, leftover chocolate is about as unusual as leftover wine is in this house but we always have lots of chocolate left over after every Christmas and Easter.
Even though we only bought the kids one egg each this year, they still seem to have accumulated a few extra from grandparents, friends and the various clubs they go to but I know they won’t eat them all as they’re not big chocolate eaters usually. I don’t like to see anything go to waste so I’ve been looking through my old posts for ideas for using it up.
Biscuits
Our super easy biscuit recipe would be great dipped in some melted chocolate as would our homemade hobnobs.
Chocolate Bark
We made some Halloween chocolate bark here but you could easily adapt this to make your own version using whatever you have in to use up.
Rocky Road Cake
We haven’t made Rocky Road bites for years but they’re a great way to use up leftover chocolate and sweets as well as any biscuits, dried fruit and nuts or cereal that you want to add in.
Chocolate Sauce
We love homemade chocolate sauce – great as a topping for puddings and ice cream (or just with a spoon when no-one’s looking!
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Who doesn’t love a chocolate chip cookie? We love our hot chocolate cookies almost as much as we love Nutella chocolate chip cookies! You can just pop your chocolate into a sandwich bag and give it a good whack to make your own chocolate chips to use in these recipes.
Chocolate Fondue
Chop up lots of fresh fruit (end of day supermarket bargains are great) and add some biscuits and marshmallows and a big bowl of melted chocolate and you have quite possibly the nicest pudding ever.
Cupcakes

Melted chocolate is a great way to ice cupcakes – the one’s in the picture above are melted chocolate with popping candy on top.
No-Cook Chocolate Crunch Cakes
These no-cook chocolate crunch cakes are like little balls of heaven and are great for using up chocolate (or even for buying chocolate especially for).
Crispy Cakes
You can’t beat good old fashioned crispy cakes – especially if you add some popcorn and sprinkles into the mix!
Make a traybake
Break it up and use as chocolate chips in a tray bake or cake. Master Frugal’s specialty is chocolate tray bake and this is what he does instead of us buying chocolate chips usually.
Do you have any leftover chocolate to use up?

Hmmm yes, no chance of leftovers here either! But these look scrummy
Now… this looks AMAZING!
Great idea hun, we didn't have many chocolate eggs left over from Easter but this would be the perfect idea.

Lotte xo
I love chocolate so we rarely have any leftovers but it's good to have some recipes bookmarked for the future 😉 Great selection!
Sylvia @ Happiness is homemade
leftover chocolate?! never heard of it!! seriously though – these ideas look great, we don't really go overboard at easter so the kiddos only get one or two eggs, so none gets leftover.
We don't tend to have chocolate in our house. These look lovely though xx
We actually have quite a bit of chocolate left over too so love this! Particularly like the idea of the chocolate fondue – yum!
Haha this made me chuckle as its my husband that hoovers up any left over chocolate! But good ideas if there is any ever going spare…Christmas is a good time as there are so many other treats and distractions that you are then left with a load of chocolate just before you start a January detox! x
I used to do this all the time but eventually decided it tasted bad lol x
There is no such thing as left over chocolate in this house!
Leftover chocolate? What is this? 😛 xxx p.s. great ideas here and they all look super scrummy!
My mouth is watering! We don’t often have left over chocolate but I might have to go and buy some to make those biscuits!
MMmm some great ideas here!
Yes to Rocky Road love making that stuff!! x
Lovely ideas but yes I live in one of those households where leftover chocolate is an anathema! x
