My Money Story – Katy from Katy Kicker….

I’ve suffered from health problems for a number of years now. I have a thyroid auto-immune disease, arthritis and fibromyalgia, to name just a few of my health conditions. Back in 2013 my husband suggested that I quit my job and focus on looking after myself more. No longer having to worry about calling in sick, struggling through at work or letting people down was liberating for me, and my family life. I knew that I could make money on the internet and this was my chance to really throw myself into it!

Fast forward 4 years and I am now a self-employed and earning more than a full-time wage doing what I love. Today I am going to tell you how I managed to quit my job and start working from home full-time.

The first thing that I did to help our finances was work out ways that we could save money. I began to meal plan, batch cook and cut down on the amounts of takeaways that we bought. Then I looked at switching our utilities, reducing our car insurance and making changes around our home. I de-cluttered and generally we live a much more organised existence in our home now. Not having items everywhere, and having a clean home, is motivating for me and freed me up to spend more time online making money. I spend less time on chores and I never worry about having guests now.

Money making is the largest part of working from home for me. I make a large amount of money online now, enough to pay for several holidays a year, save for a house and buy a new car too. I earn more than a full-time salary and I work less hours than my old full-time job too.

There are a vast array of ways that you can make and save money online. Some of my favourite ways include completing paid surveys, carrying out matched betting, taking part in paid focus groups, using get paid to websites and using paid apps on my mobile phone. I also use apps to save money on my food shopping, get discounts on gift cards and much more. The hard part was managing the finances at first. My wonderful husband earns a nice wage and he was happy to cover our bills while I got myself established. I had already dabbled in making money on the internet and I was confident that I could make a part-time wage at least. Then I could begin to contribute back to our family with holidays, nice days out, money for food shopping and more. Despite knowing that my husband was happy to pay the bills I was encouraged to work hard. Any extra money that I could make would allow us to enjoy the finer things in life, build up our savings and have more security. This is more important to me than ever now that we have a daughter too.

Now that I have been self-employed for a number of years things are looking fantastic. Not only do I make lots of money completing paid work online but I also have a blog that is improving monthly. I make money from affiliate traffic, banner adverts, sponsored posts and much more. Brands want to pay to work with me as they know that I have a focused audience that are genuinely interested in what I have to say. Life has changed so much for us since 2013 and I’ll always be grateful to my husband that I could make the leap. My husband was always supportive of my dream to make money online and he knew that I was determined, focus and would achieve my goals.
