Today I’m going to share with you 10 books with the power to change your life!
If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen my post from the airport on the day I was travelling to San Fransisco. My flight was a few hours delayed which is the only excuse I have for succumbing to the temptation of WHSmiths.
I felt like going to San Fransisco was a little bit about finding myself again after a rough year so I justified my purchases to myself because I chose some pretty deep books and magazines to read during my time alone on the other side of the world.
Until recently I haven’t been a self-help book kind of person but I’ve read a few over the last few months and am a definite convert although I still love a good bit of romance, which is my guilty pleasure.
I started the ‘You Do You’ book on the flight and I genuinely couldn’t put it down. I could relate to so much of it and as I was reading it, I found myself nodding along, taking each point from the page and putting into the context of my own life.
I genuinely found the book hilarious at times, a little emotional (this could have been the tiredness setting in) and above all empowering because it made me realise that I did some things in my life that I didn’t enjoy because I felt that I should and not because I actually needed to do them.
I’d be lying if I said I put everything in the book into action because I’m the kind of person who needs to take baby steps with things like this but I have found myself making key changes which have made me happier in myself.
I definitely, definitely recommend having a read if you can get hold of a copy.
The impact that this book has had on me in a short space of time made me think about some of the other books that I’ve read over the years that have influenced my life in some way. These are the books that I believe have the power to change your life.
I hope my selection inspires you, as they have me, to read more and work towards living a happier, healthier and wealthier life.
The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying by Marie Kondo
I loved this book or at least the idea of it! I know people who have overhauled their whole life after reading this book and have literally de-cluttered their house to the extreme, getting rid of anything that didn’t spark joy in them. I started the process but found it hard to dedicate the time I think I needed to really de-clutter as in the book. I have gone at my own pace though and a good year or so after first reading the book, I am still inspired by it and am still working my way through the house.
The Total Money Makeover: Classic Edition: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness
I’m a recent convert to Dave Ramsey after discovering his Baby Steps philosophy but this book goes beyond the basic steps to manage your money for financial success. This book can change your financial future with just a few evenings of reading this inspirational self-help book for financial fitness. It is quite US focused but still interesting if you ask me.
This brilliant book is written by Emma and Lynn, two leading UK bloggers (who also happen to be lovely ladies) is a must own book for anyone looking to change their life with blogging. There’s money to be made in blogging if you’re determined enough and these ladies share their secrets without holding back to truly inspire you on your blogging journey.
Notes From A Friend: A Quick and Simple Guide to Taking Charge of Your Life
This book shares Tony Robbins’ famous (they must be famous if I’ve heard of them) techniques to help you take charge of your life. This is a really easy to read self-help book that promises to change your life by putting you back in charge of all areas in adulthood. I’m part way through this, as I am with a lot of these books, and feel like I really could make some changes.
How to Afford Time Off with your Baby: 101 Ways to Ease the Financial Strain
The title of this book says it all and when I first read it, I was shocked at how many things I should have been doing to save money but really wasn’t. I think Becky was one of the first bloggers I met when I started blogging and she sent me a copy of this (signed) and I read it from cover to cover and even made a few notes in it. Then my friend found out she was expecting twins and was so overwhelmed at the thought of it that I immediately made up a care package comprising of this book, a box of chocolates, a bottle of lucozade and some biscuits that I had in the cupboard and went round to give her a hug.
The Little Book of Big Change: The No-Willpower Approach to Breaking Any Habit
Have you found yourself with a habit that you must break in order to feel better, be more financially stable or just something you want to rid yourself of doing? This little book will help you make big changes to break any habit you’re dealing with. I read this one, not because I had a habit to break but because this was the most interesting book in the hotel mini-library when I went away a little while ago.
Make Your Bed: Small things that can change your life… and maybe the world
This short book can be read in about 45 minutes, but the impact it has on changing your life for the better is amazing. Learn how to start doing small tasks each day to better your life and the world. I love the life organisation side of this and definitely found it a help in my every day life.
The Idea in You: How to Find It, Build It, and Change Your Life
Do you ever think about turning your hobby it no a business? Perhaps you have some ideas that you really haven’t done anything with. This book will inspire you to learn how to find that idea, build it and in turn change your life for the better. This is one of those books that I read and felt massively inspired and enthusiastic – I just need an amazing idea now. 😉
How Not To Die: Discover the foods scientifically proven to prevent and reverse disease
Last on my list of 10 books with the power to change your life is a book that inspires you to eat your way towards a healthier you. There are many foods that have been proven to benefit your body and this book is your guide in eating better, smarter and feeling great – I bought this a couple of weeks ago because the tagline fascinated me:
Why rely on drugs and surgery to cure you of life-threatening disease when the right decisions can prevent you from falling ill to begin with?
I’ve only just started this one but wanted to include it because I think it’s going to be a game-changer.
So there you have it, 10 books with the power to change your life.
From learning how to blog your way to success, coming up with an idea and turning into a business, to mental health inspiration and learning how to manage money; each of these books will truly change your life!
PS – I added links to the books on Amazon so you can read a bit more about the book including the reviews from other readers but if you want to save money then it’s worth trying to order the books through your local library who will get it for you for a small charge and a little wait.
