I was sitting at the table with the kids tonight about to start our Saturday night games night when the moon caught my eye. It looked beautiful and all I wanted to do was get outside and take photos of it but we were just about to play Rapidough and the kids had been looking forward to taking on me and Mr Frugal all day. I thought I was going to have to miss out on the photo taking until the perfect solution came to me. 😉
Five minutes later we were all in the car with the dog (and my camera) heading to the beach to take photos play football. Every now and again, I kicked the ball further than I should have and used the time it took the kids to retrieve it to take photos of the moon!
Before I started blogging, I didn’t see things the way I see them now. Something beautiful or interesting now is something that I want to capture on film so I can keep that little photo forever as well as sharing on Instagram and all other appropriate social media channels obviously!
Obviously because I am a blogger, that little realisation made me think a little deeper about what else has changed in my life since I started blogging and again, because I’m a blogger I decided who better to share my thoughts with than you lovely lot.
So, apart from the fact I want to photograph everything and everything I see has the potential to turn into a blog post, here’s what else has changed for me….
Confidence – I am in general a more confident person in all areas of my life. Not super confident and I still have my wobbles but I sometimes have a little smile to myself when I think how far I’ve come in blogging and how many lovely friends I’ve made through it.
I can’t leave the house without my camera – I always have my iPhone and my Olympus Pen with me when i leave the house which is taken into account with all new handbag purchases. Last month Mr Frugal was going to buy me a lovely bag but it was no good for carrying my camera around in so I turned down his offer!
I need more time – I never seem to have enough time to do everything I want to do and could easily do with a couple of extra hours in the day. I try to be super organised and not to procrastinate but I’m still usually running behind on just about everything.
My postman hates me – As much as he tries not to show it, I’m pretty sure that my postman is not a fan of me being a blogger. Especially not on the days when he has to card a stack of parcels to our house and I’m not in so he has to trail them all back to the sorting office. This clearly happens often as the lovely lady in there just says hi to me these days and hands over the goods without even asking to see my ID,
Photos before food and drink – When we’re out for a meal and the food is put on the table for us, the kids look at me for permission before they start eating in case I want to take a photo. When I order a drink, I try to order the ones that I know will photo better – a tequila sunrise will look much better in a photo than a Malibu and coke.
Rewind and repeat – the whole family is used to doing things once for fun and then often once more so I can get the perfect shot!
Stop speaking a moment please – there may have been times when I’ve drifted off part way through a conversation because a great idea has just hit. I just have to write the idea down or I can’t stop thinking about it so I have a list on the Wunderlist app on my iphone where I quickly note down the idea before rejoining the conversation!
My special place – There is a corner in my kitchen which is clutter free and clean all of the time – it’s the tidiest place in the house actually. That’s because it’s the area where most of my photos are taken!
I haven’t watched a soap opera since I started blogging – I’d rather spend time on Pinterest than watch TV!
