We all know how important it is to make sure that children are active on a regular basis, don’t we?
Some children are naturally active whereas others (like my two) need a little more encouragement so when it comes to making sure that my two get as much exercise as they need, I have a few tricks up my sleeve. I try to make things fun for them and most of the time, they exercise without even knowing that they’re doing it.
See for yourself….
Scooter Fun – they have so much fun at the local skate park but just as much fun scooting around the park or in the street.
Trampolining – we have a trampoline in our back garden and it’s used almost daily.
Back garden fun – we visited the pound shop last Summer and stocked up on all sorts of garden toys. The badminton set was a bargain considering how much it’s been played with.
YouTube fun – Miss Frugal expecially uses YouTube for keeping active. Yoga tutorials and workout sessions are her favourite way to keep fit at the moment but she also loves a good session on Just Dance on YouTube (no games console required).
Join new clubs – our local leisure centre does so many kids clubs that we’re spoilt for choice and they’re all really cheap too.
Swimming – we go swimming weekly and the kids have to be dragged out every single time as they have so much fun.
Join the Gym – Miss Frugal has a membership to the local gym where she goes twice a week with her friends. For £14 a month, she gets the gym and swimming included as well as lots of clubs.
Go to the park – we have so much fun at the park whether it’s playing hide and seek or just letting the kids climb trees and run about.
Let them wash the car – you get a clean car and they get a workout and lots of fun.
Cycling everywhere – to school, to the shops, to their friends houses or even just up and down the street. We’ve also found a local (free) outdoor BMX track that they love to visit.
