I remember being a little baffled (love that word) by some of the things my Mum would say to me when I was a child.
The younger version of me used to wonder what jumping off cliffs had to do with going with my friends to the shop when I was supposed to be playing in the street and what was this benefit that I would feel when I went back outside? And as for our house not being a hotel, well I knew that already because if it was then I wouldn’t have had to make my own bed every morning would I?
So the younger version of me promised herself that she would never use these silly phrases when she was a mother.
Unfortunately, the older version of me didn’t quite manage to keep that promise and I’ve said everything on that list many, many times. In fact I’ve probably said them all at least once in the last few days alone – I think I may owe my younger self an apology!
How many phrases from the list have you said recently?
