A Sad Story….

This is the story of a mother’s broken dreams and disappointments (drama queen – moi?)….

Miss Frugal: I have a super special surprise for you mammy because I love you so much.

Me: Ooooh, I like surprises (already picturing Mr Frugal buying me the bracelet I’ve been after and giving it to her to give to me).

Miss Frugal: (presents me with the small box she was hiding behind her back)

Me: Whatever could be in there? (so convinced it’s the bracelet)

Miss Frugal: Nothing! The box is your present – I made it for you. Don’t you like it? (said with a sad face)

Me: Yes darling I love it, I’ve always wanted a box. (puts on happy face whilst feeling gutted that I am still braceletless)

So just to clarify, promise of present, present was box, box was empty, I am sad!

I still remember the moment my (then) 4 year old proudly presented me with a lump of clay with feathers and straws stuck into it, made in nursery for Mother's Day. Still got it as it's priceless to me. Bet you'll still have that box in years to come.
