One of my New Years Resolutions was to start to decorate my house to turn it from the neutral new build that it currently is into a lovely home for my family.
My taste seems to have changed so much since I had the kids and I’ve gone from wanting everything matching and perfect to wanting a much more relaxed shabby chic style.
I’m so pleased that the lovely Jen from the Madhouse popped round the other night because she completely gets what style I’m going for and has given me some great ideas. I had tried to explain what I wanted to Mr Frugal and he just didn’t get it. I ended up googling ‘shabby chic’ and presenting the results from Wikipedia to him and although he still doesn’t really get it, he’s happy to let me get on with it.
You might remember me tweeting about my sideboard bargain. It was going to be my first makeover project but when we went to pick it up, the lady had got the measurements wrong and it was too big to fit in our car. I didn’t want to fork out to hire a van for it so I can’t have it now (*stamps feet*) and I’m really dissappointed as I was so looking forward to getting started.
Look, it would have looked lovely when I’d finished sanding and painting it….
So now I’m on the look out for a new project and I suppose it would probably be better if I started off a bit smaller although knowing me and my grand ideas, I’ll probably end up with a mammoth project that will take me a year to complete!
I’ll keep you updated….
I'm looking forward to seeing your project write-ups! The sideboard project would have been gorgeous…it's a shame that you couldn't have picked it up. I'm sure your next project will be lovely though. 🙂
Cant wait till you finish painting that furniture.I love your blog it simply give me idea on what to do to my old furnitures.Looking forward for next post with you will do with it.
I could be a while lol
I keep looking but I just can't find anything that I like that's cheap enough for me to strip it back and do it up…. I need a bargain in case it goes wrong lol
There's a few but the bargains must get snapped up pretty quick as there's never anything in – either that or I'm just super fussy lol

I love your new blog, looks like I'll be getting lots of inspiration from you too x x
Good luck, back in September I stripped the varnish off our dining room table and planned to sand it down and wax it or revarnish it, as DH said it was looking worse for wear and planned to replace it with a new modern thing. Currently we have a big oak table – I can't let him replace it!
I also look forward to you make over posts, we are renovating so it nice to see others ideas.
We have an ugly modern table that I hate – hang on to your lovely one x x
Love it!! I can't wait to see what you do with it? x
I can't wait to get started x
I look forward to your makeover posts as I'm always doing it myself. You cant beat old furniture for sturdiness and style.
I know exactly what you mean x
