I love having a wander around the car boot sale on a Sunday afternoon but yesterday I was quite shocked by something that I saw, perhaps naively so. I was stood at a stall with Miss Frugal when someone pointed out to the stallholder that a lady was filling a carrier bag with items off the bonnet of her car. The stallholder shouted at the lady who was moving away at this point and ended up running after her and grabbing the lady’s bags off her. They both started shouting and the ‘thief’ said she had just forgot to pay! After a bit of a tussle the stallholder grabbed the lady’s bags and marched back to her stall still screaming. Miss Frugal just can’t understand why people would steal from other people who were just there trying to make some extra money – can’t say I do either.
On a more positive note, I’ve got some brilliant bargains this week – the first one is an old fashioned school style desk that I bought from a charity shop in town for £5.00! I couldn’t believe my luck when the assistant said it was so cheap considering I’d been bidding on one on ebay last week and had to give up when the price got up to £20.00.
A quick sand down and a coat of pink paint and it looks great in Miss Frugal’s bedroom. The stool was a 50p bargain from the boot sale yesterday.
That wasn’t even my best bargain of the week though – I managed to find the most gorgeous picture for just £2.00 from the boot sale yesterday. It’s a map of Fairyland printed on to a huge canvas and it’s so enchanting that I’m considering putting it up in the kitchen rather than letting Miss Frugal’s bedroom….
I love it and everytime I look at it I find something new that makes me smile.
Admit it, you’re all jealous of my map of Fairyland aren’t you – no house should be without one 😉
The mousepad on my laptop has died so I can’t do proper links at the moment but if you want to have a nosey at other peoples bargains this week, pop over to Me and My Shadow – http://missielizzie-meandmyshadow.blogspot.com/
