Lots of us are in full Summer Holiday countdown mode this week – ours break up on Friday so the fun officially starts on Saturday, or so I’ve been told.
I’ve worked hard over the last few month so I have some extra hours to take over the holidays and I’m so pleased that I have over half of it off with them. But I think because I’ve worked the extra couple of hours here and there and kind of feel like I’ve sacrificed time with them (and others) over the last few months I feel a little bit pressured to make these holidays brilliant.
It’s just a shame I don’t have a brilliant budget to go with it 😉
It doesn’t matter if you don’t have a lot to spend on the Summer – with some careful planning you can find lots of free or cheap things to do if you have a read of my Planning the best Summer Holidays ever – Part 1 post.
When you have a good selection of things that you know you’re going to do, it’s a good idea to pop them onto some sort of wall planner because (a) if you’re disorganised like I can be, you’ll forget what’s going on when and miss something and (b) it gives you something to look forward to and (c) it’s fun….
Here’s my (half completed) planner:
I printed this one off from The Organised Mum – it’s free but you have to register before you can download it or you can download the one that I found on Netmums which is lovely too.
The stars are the days that I’m off work – look at them all!
Next I’ve bought some little mini post it notes and added in a few of the bigger things that we’re doing – they’re on Post its because we can change the days of them if we fancy it. I’ll write the set things in with a pen as they can’t change – things like one off events at museums etc. And finally, I’ll add in the request from the kids’ lists although I’m not so keen on those ones – they mostly involve water and mess!
These are stuck on the downstairs toilet door so every time we walk past them, we can see what we’ve got to look forward to.
I’ll say it again – I can’t wait for the Summer Holidays to start….
