Halloween is a great excuse for getting the kids in the kitchen and letting their imaginations run wild by encouraging them to make spooky treats! I have some great ideas for you today….
I had a plan to astound you with my cake pop making skills this week but it went disastrously wrong and I think that I’m going to have to give in and admit that cake pops are clearly never going to be my ‘thing’.
We were alright up until a certain point and we had our blood red cake crumbs ready to go but when it came to getting the cake mix to the right cake pop consistency we just couldn’t get it right. No matter what we tried, we just couldn’t get the cake pops to hold together – I think we put too much frosting in which made the mix too heavy!
So instead of sharing my amazing non-existent cake pop skills with you today, I’m going to share with you my fantastic Plan B skills – We ended up making marshmallow cake pops which were so much easier and much more fun as we didn’t have to stress about them falling apart!
They’re just marshmallows with kebab skewers stuck in them decorated with icing – how easy is that?
In case you were slightly better in the kitchen than we are, I had a good hunt around on Pinterest for some other great spooky treats to share with you….
