I’ve been blogging for a good few years now and I don’t think that the kids can remember a time when I didn’t blog, they’ve grown up with it being part of their life and there’s certain characteristics that I’ve noticed they’ve developed that the child of a non blogger may not have or may not understand….
1. They are so NOT camera shy – they’re used to being photographed constantly to the point where they enjoy being on camera most of the time. In fact, every time I open my phone or iPad lately there’s a whole new batch of selfies waiting to make me smile!
2. They wouldn’t dream of picking up their knife and fork and tucking in to a meal when we’re out until at least five photos have been taken from all angles and the photo has been duly uploaded to Instagram with the appropriate hashtag!
3. Occasionally, they know that tea is going to be delayed due to a technical issue most likely cause by the fact that I’m distracted because I’m having a nose on Facebook working hard.
4. They have photos on their windowsill of them with famous (ish) people like District 3 and the Harlem Globetrotters team. This is normal to them and they just casually drop it in to the conversation with people, like this (which is an actual conversation) – ‘Oh is that District 3 on the cover of that magazine? I met them and they called me Princess!’
5. They accept that they regularly have to do something more than once so I can get the perfect photo – poor Master Frugal had to try key lime pie twice so I could capture his disgust!
6. They accept without question that they are asked to do odd things – like playing on the Wii U wearing our Super Mario hats or like singing Karaoke while I video them.
7. They love to travel but they’re more used to it than we are – Miss Frugal has a travel bag that she keeps packed with things to entertain her on a journey and she doesn’t unpack it as she knows there’s usually another trip somewhere interesting just around the corner!
8. They get that no matter how nice a cake may look, it absolutely cannot be eaten until the appropriate photographs have been taken.
9. They know not to be fooled when the postman brings a large box! Sometime’s it’s exciting for them but more often than not it’s something like cleaning products or food they’re not interested in. In which case they’ve learned to enjoy the box!
10. They understand that any baking or crafting must be done slowly to ensure that I can photograph each stage.
It’s such a hard life being the child of a blogger, isn’t it?
