I know it’s been a while since I’ve done a Money Makeover post – Real life has been very demanding lately! Anyway, it’s back this week and I thought it would be a good idea to do a quick round up of a few ways that you can make sure that you’re getting what you’re entitled to.
Lots of people are paying too much council tax – the chances are that you’re actually not one of them but if you’re one of the potential 400,000 people who are, you can claim any over payments back as well as reduce your future payments. It’s definitely worth looking into isn’t it?
Make sure you’re not missing out on any financial assistance or benefits that are available to you. Forget about any stigma attached to claiming benefits and use the quick online checker to see if you’re eligible.
Did you know that if you wear a uniform of any kind to work then you can claim a small amount of tax relief each year? It’s an easy process if you want to make a claim and you’ll be able to backdate your claim too so worth it for the cost of a stamp!
Lot’s of companies have great offers and discounts available to offer their customers to help ‘persuade’ them to stay on as a customer so give them a call and see what they can offer you.
If you’re shopping somewhere and they have a store loyalty card – use it and make sure it’s registered. The benefits add up quicker than you might think and you might receive some good discount vouchers in the process. There’s a summary of my favourite loyalty cards here.
If you get chance this week, why don’t you try and save money using at least one of the above ideas.
