Until last week, I didn’t have proper wardrobes in our bedroom *hangs head in shame*.
We always meant to buy some but we kept putting off buying them as we’ve been planning to get some fitted wardrobes installed since we moved in. It’s never really been a top priority though and we’ve always had something else to spend our money on so the temporary wood and canvas wardrobes we bought when we moved in became less temporary and ended up staying for almost five years.
Then my Dad bought some new wardrobes and arranged for his old ones (less than a year old) to be collected and delivered to our house for us which meant that I finally have real grown up wardrobes again!
Obviously this prompted a clear out which left me with two giant black sacks of clothes that we no longer needed or wanted.
The ‘good’ clothes went on eBay and sold reasonably well but most of the clothes were just old clothes that still have plenty of wear left but aren’t really in good enough condition to sell on eBay. So I decided to sacrifice the rest of my clothes to try a bit of an experiment for you guys and see how much I would make if I took them to one of those little pop up shops that say they buy old clothes for a smallish amount per kilo.
I took two black sacks filled with old shoes and clothes to a pop up shop that paid 50p per kilo and I made the grand total of £9.50!
Not as much as I was hoping to make from the clothes but I guess they weren’t good enough quality for me to sell on ebay (I only like to sell clothes in excellent condition on there) and it was super simple – I literally handed over the bags and within two minutes the man had weighed them and handed over the cash!
Easy money, just not much of it. 🙂
