After my tween grew out of some of the activities in our old bored jar, I made her a bored jar fit for a tween! It’s filled with ideas to keep her occupied over the Summer and I’ve even made a free printable for you so you can print off the ideas and use them to make a jar of your own.
One of my all-time most popular blog posts is a post from a few years ago where I told you all about our Bored Jar and shared 80 ideas with you in case you wanted to make your own version. Ours has seen us through rainy days, school holidays and after school blues and we still have it now. Sadly though, my two have pretty much grown out of a lot of the ideas I shared back then so it’s definitely time to update it…
At aged 10 and 12, they don’t enjoy crafting as much these days and their interests are very different so our bored jar of old has needed a bit of a revamp recently. I decided to make a new Jar for each of the kids so I could tailor the activities a bit although they often play together and do activities from each other’s jars.
Today I’m going to share with you the ideas that we have in Miss Frugal’s Jar and you can click on the photo below to get a free printable version if you want to use the ideas for own tween girl bored jar (you can use it for a boy too but you might like to take some of the ideas as most boys may not want to paint their nails ;-))….
I printed out four copies on different coloured paper so I had a few of each option. Once I had them printed, I cut them out and folded them in half once. For the jar itself, I used a small Kilner jar that I picked up from Morrisons for about £1.60 and as you can see, from the photo below, the four sheets were just enough to fill the jar.
She’s over the moon with her updated bored jar and I know it’s going to be well used next week!
