We live two minutes away from our local beach and lately we’ve been spending more time than usual there!
We don’t only go when the sun is shining though, we’ve been at night in the dark (with torches) and when it’s been raining (wearing wellies) and we’ve had fun every single time so I thought I’d share with you today our ultimate list of fun things to do at the beach.
Sunbathe
Bury someone in the sand
Paddle in the sea
Play Frisbee
Have a picnic
Play noughts and crosses in the sand
Have a sand sculpture competition – we try to make our own faces 😉
Take a sketch pad and pencil and just draw
Look for pretty shells to make your own little underwater jars.
Explore the rock pools
Play football
Make animal sculptures with the sand
Write messages in the sand
Surf
People watch
Take the water pistols and have a water fight – just refill as often as you like from the sea
Build a sandcastle
Take a camera and take photos – the beach is a brilliant place for photography.
Dig the deepest hole you can, for no reason at all.
Do Yoga (Miss Frugal does this)
Play Rounders
Learn to skim stones
Play musical chairs using towels instead of chairs
Have an ice cream
Make some sand art with shells and pebbles that you collect.
Play Pictionary in the sand
Toss a beach ball around – honestly my two could do this for hours
Have a beach themed scavenger hunt
Buy some badminton or tennis rackets from the pound shop and play
Play beach bullseye (just draw a target in the sand and throw stones shells to see who can get the most points)
Read a book you’ve been dying to read
Fly a kite – the beach is often the windiest place in town
Take a small paddling pool with you for the younger ones so they can play in the water near you.
Take some bubbles and blow them
Do cartwheels in the sand
Take a BBQ and roast marshmallows when it starts to cool down
Watch the sunset
