I’ve read lots of blog posts and social media updates over the last few weeks where people have been sharing their word of the year – the word that represents something they want to focus on in 2016.
I’m a big fan of having a word of the year (last year I had more than one) and I’ve really enjoyed reading and hearing about what everyone else had chosen for their word as well as being inspired by the reasons everyone has for picking their own particular words.
I didn’t have to think very hard about my word for 2016 as it’s something that’s been playing on my mind for a little while now.
My word is HAPPY.
I’m going to do things that make me happy and try not to do things that don’t make me happy.
It’s as simple as that!
Blogging makes me happy so I’m all good on that front although I do need to learn to manage my time better so I can do all of the things I want to do without spending more time on it. I started blogging to record our memories and I don’t ever want to not have time to make new memories because of blogging!
My job makes me happy although it would be nice to be able to reduce my hours a little bit more – a four day week would be lovely!
My family are amazing and they obviously make me very happy but as the kids get older they’re spending more time with their friends (either in person or via Facetime/XBox chat) so I want to make the most of the time that we do spend together as a family. We have a weekly Saturday night games night and Sundays are family days where we’ll go out for the day where we can. I’ve booked two holidays for us this year already which we’re looking forward to and I can’t wait to get some more fun planned in.
And as for me, I’ve joined Slimming World as I want to feel better about myself and I plan to start running when I can. I spend more time doing things that I want to do and I’m learning to say no – all of which is making me happy.
I’ve got lots of happy plans for all areas of my life this year so stay tuned as we’re on course for a Happy 2016!
What about you, do you have a word of the year?
