With the cost-of-living crisis crunching, we all want cheaper goods online. Yet, finding deals online isn’t as easy as it used to be because there are so many more customers. To help you find the best offers, here are some of the top tips and tricks.
Use discount codes
Discount codes are the online equivalent of newspaper coupon clippings. When inputted at the online checkout, they can give you a range of benefits. That might include a percentage off the price of your order, free delivery, or some other goody. All you need to do is search the name of the store plus ‘discount code’ or ‘coupon code,’ find a code, then copy and paste it in.
Try a VPN
A virtual private network (VPN) reroutes your internet connection through another country. In doing so, it disguises it. While they are often used for improved internet security, they can also be used for shopping. That’s because some offers might only be available in certain countries. To give it a try, get a free trial VPN and check the store while the VPN is online.
Leave items in your cart
Instead of completing your purchase, consider leaving items in the cart. Sometimes you will receive an email reminding you to complete your purchase. On these occasions, the store may also provide you with an additional discount to persuade you not to go with a competitor.
Ask them!
It’s a long shot, but ask the store directly via live chat or email if they have any discount codes. There’s a chance that a kind customer service representative will give you one. Why? To persuade you to shop at the store and not spend your funds elsewhere.
Join the mailing list
If you don’t mind your email inbox becoming a wild west of promotional emails, sign up for the store’s mailing list. Many shops will provide their subscribers with special discounts, as well as advance warning of promotions. If you love to shop in sales, this could be the best choice for you!
