What a week!
I haven’t been around very much this last week as it’s been absolute chaos here – there’s so much happening with the last week couple of days of school approaching and I have so much to tell you all so I thought I’d do a bit of an update post!
Let’s start with Miss Frugal’s news….
New school
After all my deliberations last year about whether or not I was doing the right thing sending Miss F to a different school to all of her friends, we had the nervously anticipated taster days last week and the good news is that she absolutely loves it. It’s a great school and they’ve made her feel so welcome – she has quite a few friends there already after just two days and she seems to be very happy with the decision to go there.
SATS
It’s no secret that I completely disagree with SATS and the pressure that some schools place on children, our school being one of them. In fact, it’s because of the pressure they put on Miss F over the last year or so that I found myself at parents night with a child who was practically shaking with nerves while we waited for our turn to go get her results. When they handed her the envelope to open and read in front of her (very scary) Y6 teacher and the headmistress I think I actually stopped breathing while I waited for her reaction. I was so nervous for her because I knew that anything less than a certain grade wouldn’t be good enough for the pressure she put on herself! When I saw the smile on her face, I felt such a sense of relief that you wouldn’t believe. She got all level 5’s which is higher than expected achievement of a Y6 student. I don’t really get the scores but Google tells me that level 5 is the expected level of a 13 year old so she’s done brilliantly.
Single again
She’s split up with her boyfriend of five months because she wants to spend more time with the girls! I’m not sure she realised that she’s only 11 sometimes!
Freedom
We’re in negotiations at the moment as to how much freedom she gets this Summer – so far she’s allowed to go swimming on her own with her friends if she’s dropped off or picked up and she’s allowed to ride over to her friends house which is about half a mile away but only with someone else. I know I need to let her go a little but she’s still only 11 so not too much just yet I hope!
Now Master Frugal’s turn, although his update is much shorter as he’s just plodding along being his usual lovely happy self….
School report and parents night
Master F’s school report was fantastic as always and he’s quite advanced for his age which still makes me a bit teary when I’m told that after the stress we had when he was younger. His teacher says he’s very funny with a dry sense of humour but that he is a sensitive and very caring little boy.
Ginger issues
We’re still working on this one. 😉
Ear piercing
He’s currently asking me repeatedly if he can have his ear pierced which I really, really don’t want him to get done. I’m trying to talk him around to my way of thinking.
And last but not least, my turn….
I have one more week left at work and then I have two weeks off with the kids which I am really looking forward to – we have lots of plans – the main one at the moment is just to chill out and recharge our batteries after a VERY busy few months.
I’m trying to get into a good space blogging wise, there seems to be so much to do and so little time to do it in. I have so many ideas for Summer holiday fun and I’m going to spend a couple of days scheduling posts I think so I can spend more time having fun than I’m spending writing about it! On the plus side look what happened yesterday:
How good is that?
Although it won’t last long as when I went to get a screen shot of the badge on my blog, I realised I must have deleted it a few weeks ago when I had a bit of a blog shuffle about!
So, that’s what we’ve all been getting up to lately.
Now I’ve got all that off my chest, normal service will be resumed tomorrow. Well, it will be if we don’t decide to go to the beach and get ice creams instead! 😉
