When I saw the Ugg Australia ‘Classic Day Out’ competition, I knew exactly what we would pick as a family as our favourite day out – a day at London Zoo!
We love London Zoo, despite living at the opposite end of the country and I think we’ve been every year since we first visited about four years ago.
We have a special reason to visit the zoo now as we adopted a monkey for Master Frugal last year for his Birthday so he likes to go along and make sure the keepers are doing a good job looking after his baby, Bounty. Last year when we were in the monkey section he found someone feeding the monkeys a banana (this is bad apparently) which got him very angry bless him, he went and found the zoo keeper and told them what was happening and then him and the zoo keeper both went and put a stop to it.
We have a cuddly toy version of Bounty and he lives on Master Frugal’s pillow along with the rest of his cuddly monkey toys. He’s in charge of all of the other monkeys apparently and whenever he gets a new one, it’s always introduced to Bounty first.
Next time we go, I’m going to see about doing one of their experience days – the Rainforest one in particular is something that I know they would love as they’ve both been learning about this and they’re horrified that so much of the Rainforest is being destroyed every day. Master Frugal even made me a little Powerpoint presentation about it the other day!
The penguins are my favourite animals and I think that Miss Frugal likes the Meerkats best although to be honest, she changes her favourite animal every time we visit. Last year we were lucky enough to get really up close to some gorgeous Meerkats:
