{I published this back in 2015 originally but I’ve discovered some brilliant frugal blogs lately that I know you’ll love as much as I do so I thought I’d start to update it. Once I started, the list grew from about 10 to 30 so if I were you, I’d go grab a cuppa and take a bit of time to have a good read through them all to see if you find a few new favourites. If you don’t have time now then you could always Pin it for later. 😉 }
There’s nothing I love more than sitting down with a cup of tea and a jaffa cake and getting the chance to read some of my favourite blogs in peace. Unfortunately, this doesn’t happen anywhere near enough lately between work, being a taxi for the kids and various other time sucking things but when I do get chance, these are the thrifty and frugal blogs that I love to read.
They all inspire me in different ways so I thought I’d share them with you today so you can enjoy them too (if you don’t already)….
I think that the lovely Becky is quite possibly one of the loveliest bloggers I know as well as being an absolute mine of information where money saving is concerned. She not only shares ideas on lots of ways to save money and be thrifty but also inspires me to want to live a simpler life.
Skint Dad is another blog filled with excellent ideas to save money when you’re on a budget and I particularly love Ricky’s honesty about his situation and the inspirational way that he’s getting out of debt. His recipes are amazing too and great for meal planning on a budget.
Jen is amazing and she’s definitely taught me a good few lessons about saving money (and life in general to be honest). She’s a great friend who makes an amazing mint tea using mint from her garden which we drink while we put the world to rights. A Thrifty Mum is Jen’s thrifty blog (hence the name 😉 but you’ll also find her crafting or cooking usually over on Mum in the Madhouse.
Emma is a complete bargain hunter – her supermarket bargains put mine to shame and she’s the only person who’s ever put up a good argument for not meal planning each week! Her blog is filled with hints and tips so it’s well worth popping over and having a good look around.
Liz is another of my favourite thrifty bloggers and I always enjoy reading her thrifty posts. Her blog is filled with ideas for homemade gifts and beautiful photos of the things she does with her family. My favourite posts though are her Magpie Monday posts because she’s a bit of an expert in finding a bargain in the charity shops – I hope to see it’s return ready for car boot sale season! 😉
Being Mrs C and Penny’s Savings
Penny’s blogs are lovely and filled with lots of family fun as well as money saving tips. I’ve really enjoyed the Money Hangout posts that she’s been part of lately as it’s great to get the chance to ask an expert a question about something I genuinely have no idea about. Penny’s Ladybird Tuesday posts are always a real blast from the past and I’d love to find a book worthy of linking up myself!
A Frugal Month is all about making small changes in order to live your best life on a smaller budget. It really is all the small changes that add up to a much bigger change in lifestyle and you’ll love reading about some of the small changes you can make here.
Zoe writes all about saving money in eco-friendly ways over at Eco Thrifty Living and it’s clear from reading that she feels passionate about her belief that being eco-friendly is not only good for the planet, but is good for your health and your wallet too! I completely agree and that’s why I love reading!
From Pennies to Pounds
Francesca writes about how best to manage your money – whether that be the best money saving ideas or money making ones and there are some great ideas on there so it’s well worth popping over and having a read.
I love the name of this blog! After moving from London to our dream house in Suffolk, Faith writes about moving to the country, living on less and making the most of it. Her blog is all about enjoying family life on a budget, cooking great frugal food and getting to grips with our garden and as she also includes the thrifty tips and tricks picked up during well over a decade as a money journalist.
Another great blog for sharing money making tips is Katy Kicker and with a tagline like hers (KatyKicker’s Bakes, Makes and Money Making Escapades) I knew it was going to be a blog I’d enjoy reading. She shares ideas on making and saving money as well as sharing frugal food recipes.
Lee’s blog is about enjoying family life on a low income, and learning to cut costs instead of having to work more which is what it’s all about to me.
Reduced Grub is a great blog shows people that you do not need to have a huge budget to eat like a king ! Kelly shares recipes, bargains and shop reduction times and has been the inspiration behind a few of our meals recently.
Laura writes about coupons and how to use them in the UK as well as sharing her thoughts on bargain hunting, reduced to clear items, glitches and other money saving ideas.
Another great one for those of you looking to reduce your food budget! Lesley will show you, baby step by baby step, how to feed yourself for £1 a day. There are loads of meal plans to read and over 400 recipes so far for you to look through for inspiration!
This is Holly’s guide to frugal living and extreme couponing and she’s pretty qualified to share couponing tips with us seeing as she broke the UK Record for the largest Coupon Shop in the UK last Christmas when she managed to get £1164.39 worth of food for free!
Be Clever with your cash is a blog to help you make the most of your money, from finding the best bank account or energy deal to cash hacks and offers to get the best value when you spend. Andy is also the guy behind UK Money Bloggers so he’s always got a great tip to share!
Charlotte writes about living a luxurious and fun life, but on a budget which is my sort of lifestyle. Being frugal doesn’t mean doing without, it just means being careful with what you have which is why I love reading this blog.
Donna is a family money blogger who helps families with or without children to save money in all aspects of life, focusing on couponing, discount codes and other ways to save money on everyday life.
Mrs MummyPenny is a personal finance & lifestyle blog all about getting the BEST value for your hard earned cash which is what we all want when it comes down to it!
Miss Thrifty is one of the first blogs I read when I discovered the world of blogging! Miss Thrifty lives in Greater Manchester, UK, and never pays full price for anything. Her mission: spend less, live within your means and get out of debt – without resorting to recycling teabags.
Pemblebee
Pemblebee is a new blog on the block but I think you’re going to like it! Nicola blogs about trying to pay off debts, living life on a budget and thrifty cooking and don’t tell her I told you but her banana bread recipe looks better than mine. 😉
This is a Facebook page rather than a website as such but it’s a great community to jump into.Cal shares the last supermarket offers, coupons, cashback, try me frees, freebies, competitions and giveaways – in fact any offer you can utilise to live as cheaply as possible. She also posts shopping pics and illustrate how she profits on my grocery shop every month to help others do the same.
Emma shares ideas to make money, save money and live the life you want. She says that you’ll get real, practical advice about making and saving money ad she’s not wrong! There’s so much information on here that it’s actually on my to do list to sit down one day with a notebook and write some of her moneymaking ideas down to try myself and there’s been more than one occasion where one of you lovely readers have emailed me for advice and I’ve sent you in the direction of a post I’ve read by Emma.
The Frugal Cottage is all about living the life you want on a budget, focusing on money saving, budgeting and early retirement. I love reading about the challenges that Nicola sets herself and the updates she shares on them each month.
I love reading Aly’s blog about her family life and if you don’t already read this blog then it’s well worth heading over for inspiration on everything from slow cooking to Vegan meals. Aly is also an expert (my words not hers) in social media and is always the first to try a new social media platform,
This blog was actually the inspiration behind me wanting to update this post as I discovered it last week and have been really enjoying reading it. It’s been so long since I had time to sit and look for new blogs to follow and I’m so pleased I found this one.
