I know I’ve not been around much lately and when I have it’s really only been to tell you what a great time we’re having these holidays but there’s only a week left and then normal service will be resumed I promise.
For now though we’re still in full holiday mode here and we’ve had another great week filled with new things and new places. On Wednesday we visited Alnwick Castle which is absolutely nothing like I expected it to be.
To some, Alnwick Castle is best known for being Hogwarts in the Harry Potter movies, others will love the history of the castle and the chance to explore the state rooms and the various museum areas around the castle.
To us though, it was all about having fun in some beautiful surroundings….
There was a lot going on in the castle when we went – broomstick training (free but you do need to book a time slot as it’s really popular), archery, dressing up, crafts, medieval games, free tours – brilliant value considering a family ticket is only £33.30 if you book online and is valid for 12 months!
See what it’s like for yourself by watching the TV ad here 😉
And while you’re there, no visit to the castle is complete without a visit to Alnwick Gardens which is actually a different attraction so you need a separate ticket – we paid £33.00 for our ticket on the day but it’s worth looking online to see if you can get any offers – I know you can save at least 5% if you book online before you go. You might think that’s a lot to pay to look at some gardens (I did until we went in) but it’s much more than just a garden. There’s a maze, some amazing water features and beautiful walkways, water play areas for the children as well as what you’d expect.
