Let’s talk about Airtime Rewards and the fact that I’m so late to the party with this one!
First of all – Who knew there was a super-easy way to save money on your mobile phone bill every single month for doing practically nothing? It seems everyone I’ve told about Airtime Rewards since I discovered it is already in the know about this clever little app so if you’re already using it then you’re excused from reading today’s post.
But if you’re not already using Airtime Rewards and you don’t know what it is then I am about to blow your mind and save you money off your mobile phone bill every month!
I was sitting at work a couple of weeks ago waiting for a meeting to start and Airtime Rewards was the topic of conversation as everyone was comparing how much money they’d saved off their mobile phone bill that month. And by everyone, there was a good 6 or 7 people involved in the conversation and I was only one of about 3 people who had no clue what they were talking about.
So I’m going to presume if you’re still here at this point then you are in the same boat that I was and I’m going to start with the basics…
What is Airtime Rewards?
Airtime Rewards is a completely free app that you download onto your phone. You can then connect your bank cards which is as simple as just scanning your card or typing in the details – no faffing about with authorising via your bank’s app or anything like that. Once you’ve connected at least one card, you’ll earn some money back from participating retailers when you spend with them using that card. That money then accumulates and can be redeemed to reduce your phone bill.
All of the big mobile phone providers (and lots of smaller ones) are compatible with Airtime Rewards and it’s literally as simple as using your connected card with one of the retailers on there to earn money back. They partner with Visa and MasterCard to track purchases so it’s all done automatically – no clicking certain links or using any special tracking on your side.
Is it safe to use Airtime Rewards?
Absolutely! Airtime Rewards is an official partner of Visa and Mastercard and is also PCI Level 1 compliant which should definitely reassure you when it comes to how safe it is to use. PCI is the industry standard when it comes to processing payment cards and Level 1 is the highest and most stringent level so they’re right up there. They’re also not a new company that here’s for five minutes and then gone – they currently have more than one million people actively using their app which is a big chunk.
Are there many retailers on Airtime Rewards?
There are over 100 different retailers signed up to Airtime Rewards including shops like Morrisons, Boots, Argos, Currys, Greggs, Wilko, New Look and more. The amount of cashback you can earn from each place varies between 1% and 10% and some have different tiers depending on how much you spend. Morrisons for example has just appeared in my app yesterday and is 1% normally but 10% if you spend more than £30 which is a good little chunk off your phone bill if you were doing your weekly shop.
The retailers and amounts of the rewards change often and some aren’t available to everyone as they’re targeted to a certain demographic but there’s plenty on there so you should be able to find somewhere that you usually spend.
How do I redeem my money on Airtime Rewards?
Once you reach the threshold of £10 payable in your rewards balance then you are good to go to redeem the money from your mobile bill. I have no clue what trickery goes on behind the scenes but you tell them your mobile number, confirm your network provider and the money you redeem will be deducted from your bill within 24 hours. If you’re on a pay as you go tariff then you’ll get a voucher for credit!
Honestly, it feels like an absolute no-brainer to me as it literally took me five minutes to set up and connect my two bank cards and then I was good to go. I just now spend as normal and get money back for doing it in some places.
How do I get started?
It couldn’t be easier! Just got to the App Store or Google Play Store and search for Airtime Rewards. Download it and follow the instructions to connect your card and you’re good to go!
And as an added bonus, if you use my refer a friend code then we’ll get a cheeky bonus when you sign up and another if you spend on your connected card in the first seven days – ECBBDBYY
You’re welcome. 😂
