When we were on holiday a little while ago, Mr Frugal thought he would teach the kids what he thinks to be an amusing game. You might know it if you’re a certain age and fans of Dick and Dom….
Basically, when you’re in a public place, you take it in turns to say the word bogie – starting quietly and building up to as loud as you can go before:
a) someone gives you a dirty look or tells you to shut up
b) your mean mum tells you that if she hears the word one more time she’ll scream
c) you collapse into a fit of giggles that makes it impossible to speak
or d) all of the above!
I know, we’re a classy family aren’t we?
We came home from our holidays and I thought the game was forgotten about. Believe me, I had no plans to remind them about it anytime soon!
Until we went to a children’s party the other day.
The whole class were invited to this party and they all went suspiciously quiet when they were sat around the big table eating their party tea. I was just commenting to one of the other mums how odd it was that they were quiet when I heard it:
Bogey
and then again, a little louder:
Bogey
and even louder still:
Bogey
It got louder and louder as 30 odd children competed with each other to say it the loudest and the louder they got, the lower down in my seat. The mum ended up telling them to stop and then someone said the words I’d been dreading:
Well it was Miss Frugal that taught us the game and she says her Dad taught her it!
Great!
