I ordered an Approved Food Mystery Box last weekend and it arrived yesterday so I thought I’d share the contents with you today!
I do want to say up front that although I did work with Approved Food a few years ago, I’ve continued to use them ever since and this is just my latest order – chosen by me and paid for by me. 😉
So, if you don’t know who Approved Food is then I’ll quickly get you up to speed before I show you my little Mystery Boxes. Basically they specialise in surplus and short-dated stock, food that is either near or just passed its ‘best before’ date. They don’t sell anything past it’s ‘use by’ date.
Approved Food has a minimum order of £22.50 with a £3 (half price right now as they’re trialling a reduction) postage fee.
I ordered the mystery box that I’ll tell you more about in a minute, a snack mystery box and a couple of other random but super cheap bits and bobs. They ended up cancelling the snack mystery box a couple of days after my order as it was out of stock but the rest of my order came in super quick time – I ordered it Saturday and it arrived Tuesday.
Rather than take a stack of photos, I thought I’d do something very unlike me. I decided to make a cheeky little video to show you everything I got.
I know the quality isn’t great and I promise if I do any more videos then I’ll absolutely use something better than my phone in poor light!
So I definitely got a lot for my £10 but there are definitely some very random things in there that I would never have bought myself. I guess it’s a great way of getting me to think a bit more about what I’m cooking if nothing else. 😉
Also, someone in our Facebook Group has just told me that the Pip and Nut coconut and almond oil isn’t cheap at all. I just Googled it and it’s £3.95 a jar so that’s almost half the cost of my box – it tastes amazing too!
They usually have a couple of different Mystery Boxes so it’s definitely worth checking out!
