Are playground politics really that big a deal? I don't think it is....As kids up and down the country settle back into school, many parents are already starting to post on social media about their experiences with the playground politics involving the 'school gate mafia' and the mums in their tight cliques who spend their time looking down their noses at everyone.I get that there'll always be the odd trouble causer or the person who you really can't get along with, that's just the way the world works but I wanted to share my experience with you so you might look at the groups you … [Read more...]
Some new additions to my wardrobe….
Honestly, I feel like I've had the craziest few months with everything that's been going on here! Between the Summer Holidays, work and all my Dad drama I genuinely haven't had chance to breathe since the middle of June which is when my Dad took a turn for the worse. With him being settled in his new home and the kids back at school, I'm hoping that a little bit of normality is going to return to our lives. As welcome as that would be though, it does mean that I now have a to-do list longer than the Great Wall of China to get through.Today's post has been at the top of my to-do list for … [Read more...]
15 of my favourite ways to use up Leftover Gammon….
Gammon is one of the few meats that Master Frugal enjoys so we generally have it at least once a week. This means that meals that use up leftover gammon are regular additions to our meal plan.I always cook my gammon in the slow cooker - sometimes just in a little water, sometimes in Dr Pepper and sometimes in diet coke but however I cook it, it's always a family favourite. I always have enough leftover gammon for at least one or two other meals but I try to vary them as much as I can so it doesn't feel like we're constantly eating gammon. ;-)Here's a few of the things I … [Read more...]
The Great Frugal Bake Off – Me Vs Betty Crocker….
Totally unrelated to the Great British Bake Off, which returned to TV this week, Miss Frugal challenged me to a bit of a bake of of our own when she said that the cookies she made at her friends using a Betty Crocker packet mix were better than my homemade chocolate chip cookie recipe!I couldn't have her thinking that a packet mix was better than cooking something from scratch could I?So while she spent about two minutes making up the packet mix we bought (for the purposes of the experiment ha ha), I dug out my trusty homemade chocolate chip cookie recipe and made my own … [Read more...]
My September Goals….
It must be a good six months since I've shared my monthly goals with you but with the kids back at school on Monday, I'm excited to get some routine back into my life (and my bank balance) so I thought I'd share what my goals were for this month.I'm not one of those parents who hates the start of September because the kids are going back to school and I'll miss them, I'm more the kind of parent who counts down the days from about the last week in August and can't wait to get them back to school! It's not because I don't like having them at home because I do (mostly) but as much as I … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {1st September 2017}….
1) Last Friday, Mr Frugal finally got round to painting my kitchen! We went with white, which is pretty much my plan for the whole house at the moment. We have stacks of white paint in the garage as I bought it on offer a while ago when I decided that the goal was a white walled house - we're going room by room though and doing it gradually as we're not fans of painting!Rather than buying new accessories, I decided to update the things we already had with a can of copper spray paint:I spray painted the clock, a vase, a money box, some tin cans and even the bin (stay tuned for a … [Read more...]
