Did you know that in the UK every year we waste around 15 million tonnes of food every year? To put that into context, the average British family wastes around £700 a year on food that they're throwing away instead of using it up.We've reduced our food waste massively over the years simply by meal planning, using our freezer more and getting creative with our leftovers as I know lots of you lovely people have done too but there's clearly still a long way for us to go as a nation! That's why Sainsbury's have started their clever 'Waste less, Save more' campaign. They want to help … [Read more...]
5 Minute Nutella Fudge
Nutella fudge is something that I've been meaning to make for at least the last two years but I've never actually got round to making it though because there are at least a million Nutella fudge recipes online (me, exaggerate?) and each one of them seems a little different.I've read comments on posts where people have had a disaster with theirs not setting and I've also read comments where it hasn't been Nutella-y enough. Wasting perfectly good Nutella is not something my children would forgive me for so I just never ended up making it.But when I was planning my Christmas … [Read more...]
Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve done this week {25th November 2016}….
1) Miss Frugal is going out for afternoon tea with her friends at the end of the month and they've all been talking about what they're going to wear for weeks. I promised Miss Frugal a new dress as she doesn't really have any nice dresses that fit her anymore after a little growth spurt over the Summer - she'd quite happily wear all of her favourites as they do fit her but they're a lot shorter than they used to be so I thought a new dress was definitely in order. She went shopping with her friends and couldn't find anything she liked for under £25 which was the budget I gave her so when … [Read more...]
A handy list of some of the most popular eBay outlet shops….
I've been a fan of the eBay outlet shops since I bought a laptop from the Argos outlet store as it was such good value at the time. It was a model that I couldn't find in the catalogue at the time but all the specs looked good and it was a good £100 cheaper than the models I was looking at in shops and anywhere else online. It was so much cheaper in fact that I was a bit (a lot) suspicious of how it could be so cheap and I'd pretty much decided before it was even delivered that this would be my last purchase from any of the eBay outlet shops. I had myself convinced that it would be broken … [Read more...]
Do you have a Christmas Cupboard….
Do you have a Christmas cupboard? We do, because as much as I say that you don't need to spend a fortune on extra food and drink over Christmas and that a giant tub of Twiglets is never a good idea, even if it's in a Christmassy box, I am partial to the odd food and drink treat over the festive period.Rather than do a big Christmas shop right before Christmas and spend a fortune on the treats we all like for Christmas, I have a Christmas cupboard (actually, it's a huge bag on top of the fridge but we'll call it a Christmas cupboard as everyone else I know who does this has an actual … [Read more...]
WWE Live at Newcastle….
A couple of years ago we were invited along to one of the WWE Live events at Newcastle Metro Arena and although I was most definitely not a fan of wrestling, Master Frugal was so obviously I couldn't say no.On the night of the event, we headed to the Arena with me feeling more than a little smug about how good a parent I was being- sacrificing an evening of binge watching whatever the latest thing was on Netflix to take my boy to see some of the big name stars he loved watching on TV.What happened next was as big a shock to me as it was to everyone else who knows me - I absolutely … [Read more...]
