I'm so pleased it's Friday! After another very long and tiring week, I'm not sure if I actually five frugal things to share with you, let's see if I can make it to five....1) I bought some bags of pre-prepared veg from Tesco reduced section this week reduced to 23p a pack. I managed to make four portions of my favourite spicy butternut squash and sweet potato soup and the rest was used to make a super quick casserole in the slow cooker. I just added the veg, two chicken stock cubes some leftover chicken and a bit of boiling water and popped it on high for two and a half … [Read more...]
Are you wasting money heating your home?
This time of year is the perfect time to be thinking about saving money on your heating bills next Winter! That sounds odd I know but if you're anything like us, you're using your heating less and less now that Spring has arrived and I'm sure that in a couple of weeks we'll barely have it on again until the cold weather kicks in again later in the year.If you identify areas where you can cut costs now then you've got plenty of time to get them all done before the cold weather does start because believe me, you'll be a lot less inclined to take action in the cold dark Winter months than … [Read more...]
Thank you for making it so easy to love you….
Dear Master Frugal,I'm writing this after giving you a hug and a kiss and tucking you into your bed for the last time as a ten year old. You'll wake up in the morning as a very grown up eleven year old and I'll hug you and say Happy Birthday as I've done every year for the last ten years. But there's something else that I want to say to you, something that I might not say out loud but one day, I hope you'll be reading this blog and that you'll come across this post and you'll see what I wanted to tell you more than anything on the morning of your 11th Birthday.I want to thank … [Read more...]
Storecupboard Slimming World Chickpea, Lentil and Sweet Potato Curry….
These are my ten favourite store cupboard ingredients and they all do the job of making me look like a much better cook than I really am because having this little lot in my cupboard means that I can rustle us up a tasty meal in no time at all with no problem and any last minute changes to our meal plans are easily accommodated.Take today's lunch for example, I found three pathetic looking sweet potatoes that either needed using up or throwing out and turned them into a delicious chickpea, lentil and sweet potato curry using nothing else other than ingredients that I have in my store … [Read more...]
Redecorating my Living Room on a budget – the after pictures….
On Saturday I shared some photos of my living room before my Bank Holiday makeover and today I'm almost finished so I thought I'd share the after photos with you.It hasn't gone quite according to plan as I still have one wall to paint and I didn't manage to find any large frames to hang my wall paper samples in so I still have my old picture up at the moment. I'm going to get Mr Frugal to do his bit this week sometime and paint the wall and I'll be on the look out for frames at boot sales and in charity shops over the next few weeks - I know exactly what I want, I just have to find it. … [Read more...]
Clear your Clutter – Week 1….
I've been reading a book which has pretty much revolutionised my thinking about tidying at home (and also in my life but that's a whole other story for another time ;-)) and it got me thinking that maybe there was a way that I could help you clear some of the clutter in your house without you having to do too much at once.I would say though, that the book I've been reading ( ) is amazing and actually recommends doing everything at once rather than bit by bit and I can definitely see the logic in that. Unfortunately, between work, the kids and everything else I'm juggling at the moment I … [Read more...]
