Anyone with children of a certain age will probably (almost definitely)have heard them utter the words 'Mum, I'm bored' at some point! It drives me mad, especially when there's so much for children to do these days so the words are banned in my house although I can always tell when they're bored because of the way they wander from room to room picking things up and putting them straight back down again. ;-)So as well as our bored jar (which is amazing for giving the kids ideas to keep themselves occupied) we also have a little posted on the side of the fridge:The poster works … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {1st May 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. Remember the Valspar paint tester pots that I told you about last week? Well I bought one pot in aqua and another in a bubblegum pink shade and gave an old bookshelf a makeover. It now stands at the end of Miss Frugal's bed and gives her a bit of extra storage. I'm really pleased with it actually and even though it's not the best photo ever I hope you can see how pretty the colours are together. ;-)2. I don't know about you but I like to use microfibre cloths for dusting and wiping around the house - they're perfect for most jobs and then … [Read more...]
Wednesday’s Wardrobe – When bargain hunting goes wrong….
Welcome to this week's Wednesday's Wardrobe! In case you don't know, Wednesday’s Wardrobe is a weekly linky that I'll be co-hosting along with two fantastic bloggers, Emma and Sarah.I broke one of my own rules this weekend - I bought some clothes for Miss Frugal without consulting her first. ;-)In my defence, we were at the car boot sale and the lady on the stall we were looking at decided that she was going to reduce everything to 20p. When she started shouting that everything was reduced to 20p I looked at the rail of clothes I was sorting through filled with clothes from shops … [Read more...]
Dear So and So – the poorly edition….
Dear Mr Frugal,Please understand that I am unwell. This means that you are more than welcome to cook tea tonight and the way I feel right now, yes, Supernoodles and fish fingers are perfectly acceptable although it would make me feel much better if you could at least attempt to add some sort of vegetable to their plates. What is not acceptable is telling Master Frugal to just 'forget' his homework book rather than doing his homework tonight. I agree that fresh air is important but that, and his bike, will still be there in half an hour when he's learned all about fractions and … [Read more...]
Spot the Mistake….
Some things in life drive me mad!Buying something and then finding it in the sale the next day, hitting traffic on the way to work, not being able to find my phone when it's ringing, Katie Hopkins, running out of time....I could go on for a while here but instead I'm going to share with you a photo of what's driving me mad right now.Do you see it?Oh, and in case you're not sure what dope means nowadays, Miss Frugal kindly Googled it in the shop and it is "Literally the mack-Daddy of all phrases relating to cool, sick or awesome" So I'm not allowed to say something is cool … [Read more...]
10 ideas for a successful sleepover….
Sleepovers are a regular thing in our house recently so I thought I would dedicate this week's Tuesday's 10 at 10 to my top tips for making sure that any sleepovers at your house go without a hitch.Don't over-planIf you do make plans for sleepover activities, it's highly likely that they won't want to do whatever you have planned. I generally have a bag of popcorn in the cupboard and a cucumber in the fridge (anyone with teen girly girls will get this) as the most Miss Frugal and her friends will usually want to do is have a mini spa night with face-masks and cucumbers on … [Read more...]
