A while ago now I decided I was shouting at the kids too much and decided to stop shouting (or at least try to) wherever possible and to deal with telling them off in a more effective way. It's not like I shouted at them all the time or anything, I just felt that the amount I shouted was too much and that I wasn't setting a very good example. I felt that the message was getting lost a bit as they were upset at being shouted at and as a result, they didn't always listen to what I was actually saying. It took a few weeks to 'train' myself to act differently if they were naughty but I did … [Read more...]
Fabulously Frugal #4….
Happy New Year!I bet lots of New Years resolutions have been made this week, many of which will involve saving money in one form or another so I'm hoping that there's going to be lots of entries this month.I was a bit sill last month and I didn't set the dates on the linky right so it was only open for a couple of days rather than the full month - I've checked and double checked this month so it should be OK! ;-)I really do want people to see that being frugal and thrifty isn't the same as being tight or stingy and that there are some many easy and fun ways to save money so the … [Read more...]
There are benefits to being a sports widow….
Over the last year or so Master Frugal has really developed an interest in football - something his Dad has been waiting for since the day we were told that we were expecting a boy!Until then, despite his Dad's best efforts, he had paid no attention to anything football related and wouldn't even consider a game of Fifa on the xbox 360. My Winter bucket list….
Last September I wrote a bit of a bucket list filled with things I wanted to do or achieve during the Autumn months. I round it quite motivating and as I did quite well and got most things ticked off I decided to do a bit of a bucket list at the start of every season.I cheated a little bit though and split Winter up and did a separate one for Christmas as I had so much I wanted to do in December alone so today I want to share with you my (rest of) Winter bucket list:Someone did mention to me that they thought that a bucket list was just the same as a New Years resolution but I … [Read more...]
Is saving money one of your New Years Resolutions?
Every year when I write my New Years Resolution list, the same one is always right there at the top of my list - SAVE MONEY. Actually, trying to save money is always a high priority here but making it a New Years Resolution always seems to focus me on it even more than usual. As I know lots of you will be trying to focus on the same things as me I thought I'd do a quick reminder of my Money Makeover series from last year which was all about reviewing your finances and making them better....Week One – Money Makeover Introduction Week Two – Sort our your spending Week Three – Dealing … [Read more...]
Is Meal Planning one of your New Years Resolutions?
Every year in January, I see a massive surge in page views of all of my meal planning posts. It then dips a little bit in February, a bit more in March and by April they're back to normal again. This could indicate one of two things - either lots of people give up meal planning after a few months or they get so good at it that they no longer need to be searching for information on it!I'd like to think it's the latter but it's more likely that people tend to give up for whatever reason. I asked a couple of people who I know started meal planning last year and stopped within a few weeks … [Read more...]
