Christmas is probably the easiest time of the year to keep children entertained for free because there's so much going on for them. Even the most basic activity can be made more exciting by adding a bit of a Christmas spin to it ;-)So with just over a week to go, I thought I'd share with you our five favourite free things to do at Christmas:An obvious one but our favourite thing at this time of year is to spend time together watching Christmas films. We close the curtains, put our pyjamas on and the kids bring down an assortment of blankets, pillows and teddies and we snuggle down and … [Read more...]
My view right now….
This is my view right now from where I'm snuggled up on the settee with my hot chocolate and my Christmas magazine and I'm very pleased to say that it's making me feel a lot more festive than I've been feeling lately. I may have said this before (I've been feeling sorry for myself so it's highly likely) but for the last few weeks (actually over a month but who's counting) I've not been well and haven't had the energy or the inclination to do very much at all. So even though we've been doing the obligatory Christmas crafts and decorating, it's felt like a huge effort and I've done it more … [Read more...]
Christmas family fun on the internet…
A lot of our family Christmas traditions have come from mine or Mr Frugal's childhood and we've carried them on with our own children because of the memories they gave us when we were young. But we've also introduced a lot of our own traditions, some of which are only possible now because of the internet.Christmas is all about family and we all love anything that helps make it that bit more magical - over the years we've found a few sites that we go back to year after year so I thought I'd share our favourite three ones with you:NORAD Tracks Santa We love tracking Santa on Christmas … [Read more...]
Listography – my five favourite Christmas family traditions….
After a bit of a snotty and sneezy start to December (and end to November for that matter), I'm only now starting to feel a little bit of Christmas spirit and I finally feel ready to start enjoying our usual family build up to Christmas which is usually filled with lots of family traditions - both new and old.So, when the lovely Kate from Kate takes 5 offered to loan me Listography for the week, I thought it would be a nice idea to share some of our family traditions with you....Finding the best Christmas lights in the neighbourhood We usually all wrap up warm one evening and go for a … [Read more...]
Why aren’t there more photographs of you Mummy?
I know I'm not alone in this but I don't like having my photo taken and like many of you, I'm much more comfortable being the person behind the camera which is where you can usually find me.I love taking photos and I always have a camera within my reach, whether it's my phone camera or one of my three cameras (they're all good for different things so I NEED them all - honestly). I have literally thousands of photos and the kids are so used to me taking photos of them that they know just to get on with what they're doing and let me click away.I've been a bit obsessed with recording … [Read more...]
Homemade Cinnamon stick tree decorations….
We've gone for a bit of a change this year with a red and gold colour schemed tree in place of the usual lilac and silver ornaments that we use and surprisingly (because I loved the old colours), I really like it. It feels a lot more traditional and makes me want to fill it with lovely rustic style decorations so I'm on a mission to make some this month. The first decorations I've made to hang on there are some lovely cinnamon stick decorations that took me minutes to make but look and smell great on the tree. Cinnamon sticks aren't very expensive and I've just had a quick look online at … [Read more...]
