I hope you're having as much fun this Halloween as we are ;-)Our pumpkins are lit....The costumes are on:And we're ready for the Trick or Treat-ers to descend thanks to all the lovely goodies that Haribo sent us (because kids and grown ups love them so you know):So all that's left to say before we go and eat way too much sugar is.... … [Read more...]
How I encouraged my children to become happy readers who love books….
I know I've said this before but Master Frugal was once very behind his classmates in his reading and although I tried not to let it bother me, it did. It really did. More so because reading is so essential to everything in life that it was starting to seriously affect his confidence which in turn affected all other areas of his life - the day he said to me that he thought he was stupid my heart broke. But things improved rapidly when he was selected for his schools Reading Recovery program which involves one on one tutoring for an hour a day every day for a full term. Bobbing for apples….
This is quite possibly the most fun thing we've done in a long time - it certainly made us laugh more than I can remember us laughing before. At one point I literally had tears rolling down my face although that could have been because Master Frugal burped in the water on his last go ;-) … [Read more...]
Review: Our afternoon at Cadbury World….
We've been trying to fit in a visit to Cadbury World in Birmingham for a while now but it wasn't until last week that we actually managed to get there and it was only in the car on the way there that I discovered that everyone had their own reasons for being excited about going. The park where all the good conkers can be found is about 15 minutes drive away and I'm not exaggerating when I say that by the time we go there the rain was bouncing and the sky was so dark you'd think the end … [Read more...]
Slow Cooker Leftover Frittata….
I've posted this week's meal plan over at Meal Planning Made Easy but for those of you who haven't ventured over there yet or don't meal plan, I wanted to share a recipe that I posted on there over the weekend. It's for a frittata made using whatever you have in the bottom of your fridge that needs using up and uses the slow cooker which means it's super easy to make....As far as the recipe goes, there isn't actually one because it depends what you have in to use up but I can tell you the recipe for the version that I just made and you can adapt it as you want/need to....3 (ish) cold … [Read more...]
