Is it mean that I plan to make sure that we spend time on reading and writing this Summer? We're concentrating on reading because although both children are doing really well at reading, I feel like they usually only read when they have to and they rarely read just for fun which is I would love them to do.My idea to help with this is to have a reading chart each which we've just made together:We have some stickers to stick in each square each time we read for 20 minutes and when all the squares are filled, we'll have a nice day out as a reading reward. Don't tell them but we've got … [Read more...]
Get Organised – Organise your Chargers….
Today I'm a woman on a mission. Not a particularly important mission, it's not like I'm going to save the world or anything but I am going to tackle a problem that's been annoying me for months - I'm going to find a way to organise the million charges that we have.We have chargers for phones (four of them), an ipod touch, our Kindles, two tablets and two cameras and we're struggling to keep them neat and tidy at the moment so I've been trying to think of a way to organise them.My first idea worked really well for us for ages. I keep two of the USB plugs plugged in … [Read more...]
#SummerofFrugalFun – Water Play….
So, the day's finally arrived. Our school broke up today which means we now have six long weeks of fun ahead of us (with the odd week of work ;-)) and as you'll know if you've seen a few of my recent posts, we're planning to have as much fun as we can - while spending as little as possible!I'll be posting lots of our ideas on here and on Instagram and Twitter (#SummerofFrugalFun) to help you get through the Summer Holidays without breaking the bank. First up, we have water play which is what we've been up to every night this week to cool down after school. We bought some … [Read more...]
Five websites you must check before you go on a family day out…
If you were going to buy a TV, you'd make sure you were getting the best deal on the TV you wanted wouldn't you?So if you're planning on going out for the day you really should be spending a few minutes before you go to make sure that you're paying as little as possible to go wherever it is that you're going. It takes hardly any time at all to do and could save you a fair amount so it's definitely worth taking the time to look around to check what the best deal is. These are the sites that I check whenever we're planning to go somewhere....1. The attraction's own website2. … [Read more...]
Planning the best Summer Holidays ever – Part 2….
Lots of us are in full Summer Holiday countdown mode this week - ours break up on Friday so the fun officially starts on Saturday, or so I've been told. I've worked hard over the last few month so I have some extra hours to take over the holidays and I'm so pleased that I have over half of it off with them. But I think because I've worked the extra couple of hours here and there and kind of feel like I've sacrificed time with them (and others) over the last few months I feel a little bit pressured to make these holidays brilliant. It's just a shame I don't have a brilliant budget to go with … [Read more...]
This week’s meal plan – the easy week….
I'm so pleased the weather is still nice this week because we didn't get much chance to get out in it last week with poor Master Frugal being poorly. Miss Frugal is away with the school until Wednesday night and Mr Frugal is working lates tonight and tomorrow so for the next couple of days there's just me and Master Frugal after school and we plan to take full advantage of the weather. Monday Tonight we've had scampi and oven chips and garden peas with corn on the cob after we bought some packets of breaded scampi reduced from £6.00 to £1.50 in our local Tesco. Don't get me wrong, it was … [Read more...]
