Have you ever opened an e mail and literally squealed (loudly) with excitement? That's exactly what I did when I opened an e mail from Eon inviting us all to join them in one of the Executive suites at the O2 arena in London to watch Glee Live. I was even more excited when I told my dad about it and he offered to pay for us to have a nice family weekend together in London! We set off really early on the Saturday morning and had a lovely few hours in the Science Museum before heading to our hotel and finding out that my dad had booked us a suite, with a bedroom, kitchen diner, huge living … [Read more...]
Help! I need a Talent by Monday….
Master Frugal has come home from school today all excited because he's auditioning for the school talent show on Monday. Yes, that would be next Monday! So now we have a whole weekend to work on his audition as I want him to help him to do well. Not because I'm a pushy mother but because I hate the thought of my little boy being told by the Britains Got Talent style panel (yes, that's what they have planned) that he isn't good enough to get through the first round and actually be in the talent show! Before we can practice and perfect his act, we have the small matter of deciding what … [Read more...]
A Sad Day and a New Challenge….
First of all, if you've popped over from Netmums or Tesco - Welcome. I really hope you stick around. You can subscribe if you want to by clicking on the logo over there in the sidebar. Go on, you know you want to ;-) >>Now, on to the sad part of the post - Today's the day I've finally got rid of my gorgeous Smeg Fridge. We've had loads of problemssince we bought it form someone I know from work, the seal went on the door, the freezer compartment door snapped and it started leaking every few weeks so when it leaked again last night we decided to put it in the garage and bring … [Read more...]
Family Friendly Frugal Meals – Homemade tortilla style wraps….
I haven't done a meal plan for the last couple of weeks as we've had a couple of trips to London (more details will follow) and the kids have been ill (now there's a surprise ;-)) but we're back to normal from tomorrow so I'm hoping to be able to stick to our meal plan for the first time in a couple of weeks. I'd love some new ideas for meals though so if you have any great recipes on your blog, leave a message in the comments and I might steal borrow your idea for my next weeks plan.Monday: Bacon, egg, sausages, chips and beans with toast (mmmmmm)Tuesday: Macaroni … [Read more...]
Today is…. A Frugal Family Fun Day….
....A remembering why we're lucky kind of a day. ....A dancing round the living room kind of day. ....A blowing bubbles in the garden kind of day. We made our bubble blowers using some pipe cleaners and the bubble mix was just washing up liquid and water. .... A chalk in the garden kind of day. Note to self: Don't allow children to draw chalk pictures right in front of the front door if you don't want chalky footprints trampled all through the house! What sort of a day are you having today? If you want to join in, just grab the code from the side bar and go for … [Read more...]
Am I one of those mothers….
We're at the age now where Miss Frugal would rather be out playing with her friends than spending time in the house with us - we're boring apparently! The only problem is that all of her friends live in the street behind ours and although it's actually much safer for her to play there as it's a quiet little cul-de-sac, I hate not being able to see her and the fact that she's not within shouting distance (and I can shout VERY loudly). She has a watch but never remembers to look at it and is always losing it so here's my solution:I've given her a stopwatch that she has to wear round her … [Read more...]
