Mr Frugal and I have been married for ten years this week and to celebrate we went to see Peter Kay last night at the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena and it was fantastic - a perfect way to celebrate. I know this picture doesn't show it but we actually had really good seats (apart from the fact that everyone was squashed in like sardines) and my chest actually hurt from laughing solidly for two hours. His new material is fantastic and I can't wait to buy the DVD!Courtesy of last night, the kids new favourite new joke is: My mates just been sacked from his job on the dodgems, it's OK … [Read more...]
A Frugal Christmas Dinner….
I know I'm a bit early but..... Christmas Dinner is a massive part of Christmas Day and it's my favourite part of the whole day (apart from the presents obviously lol) but the thing I have a problem with is spending so much money on one meal. The most important thing to me about Christmas Dinner is all of the family sat round the table together having fun and you don't need to spend much money to do that.Don't get me wrong, we do spend more than usual on our Christmas dinner but ultimately it's just a Sunday dinner and you can only eat so much can't you? We usually have a starter … [Read more...]
Grown Up Twenty Questions….
Not that we're twelve or anything but when someone gave Miss Frugal one of those electronic twenty question games, we couldn't resist trying out it's knowledge of slightly more grown up objects. By we, I obviously mean me and Mr Frugal and not me and her - now that would be wrong! Our first word of the day was vibrator ;-)Is it Animal, Mineral, or Other - Other Is it shiny - Sometimes Is it flat - No Does it get wet - Yes ;-) Does it open - No Is it made of metal - Sometimes Is it a common household object - No (Bit of an argument about this one) Does it have writing on it - … [Read more...]

Next, we've got Bonfire Night and then we're on the run-up to Christmas - AAAAGH … [Read more...]
Are you still talking….
I've just had to tell Master Frugal off when he had a bit of a mood because he couldn't watch Ben 10 before bed. I tried to rationally explain to him that it was bedtime and if he didn't get some sleep he would be tired tomorrow. I told him that he didn't want to be tired and moody in the morning as he's going swimming with his grandad.Do you know what he said? Are you still talking mum because all I can hear is rar rar rar?Needless to say, his Daddy is in a LOT of trouble when he comes in from work as he said that to me this morning when I was leaving him a nice list of jobs for … [Read more...]
How to make Halloween meringue ghosts….
When I saw that English Mum was having a Kids Halloween Bake off as part of her Great Big Autumn Bakeoff, I mobilised the kids and we got cooking (this was way easier said than done as they were engrossed in a film at the time!). Miss Frugal pored over her recipe books (she takes after me with this fetish) and discovered that the only thing we actually had all of the ingredients in for was Halloween meringue ghosts, so I proudly present to you, our entry for to the kids Halloween Bake off.... How to make your very own halloween meringue ghosts! 4 large egg whites 115g sugar 115g icing … [Read more...]
