Who say's romance is dead.... First I was presented with a fluffy Rolo from Mr Frugal and today I was the lucky recipient of a love note........Written in the fat from the burgers we had for tea last night! We always make our own burgers but I couldn't be bothered to cook much last night as we've all got the dreaded lurgy. I dug out some burgers from the depths of our freezer and we decided to have burgers in buns and curly fries with corn on the cob. I can't believe the amount of fat that came of the burgers, it's disgusting - we'll definitely be sticking to our homemade ones in … [Read more...]
Jobs For Kids….?
As far as I can tell, if you have children you can't have a tidy house. It's one or the other and I seem to have opted for the children and messy house scenario. My two just do not understand the 'put one away before you get another one out' rule and move like mini whirlwinds from one toy to the next which doesn't exactly help my quest for one of those beautiful, tidy homes that I see in the glossy magazines that I religiously buy each month. So, in my quest for a tidy house, I've introduced chore charts for the kids. I've only included the super simple jobs at the moment that they … [Read more...]
Recycle your Crayons….
I wanted to post another Quick Craft Club idea today but I didn't have time to do anything crafty with the kids last night and we're having a snuggle and a movie night tonight so I thought I would re-post one of our favourite craft activities. I originally wrote about this quick craft in March but for those of you who missed it, here's how to recycle your wax crayons.Break up your wax crayons and put a selection of colours into a cupcake case, I use silicon cases for this but I'm sure paper ones would be OK too. Pre heat the oven to around 160 c and put your crayon cakes in the oven, … [Read more...]
The Gallery – My Favourite Picture….
I've always been a bit photo obsessed, I think it's the idea of capturing a moment forever that I love so much. So to ask me to choose my favourite one is just plain cruel, however, it had to be done as that's the theme for this week's Gallery.I have literally thousands of photo's and my favourite changes constantly but my current favourite is this one:A picture of the beautiful sky we could see from our house last week.... I took it using my Canon EOS 1000D on the night portrait setting - one of these days I'll venture out into the big bad world of the manual settings ;-)If you … [Read more...]
Detention….
When I picked Miss Frugal up from school today her teacher asked if she could have a word with me.... Uh Oh! She said that she had put Miss Frugal in the Behaviour Book and given her detention for tomorrow lunchtime after she had got in trouble today. Apparently, my darling little girl kicked a boy on his shin. Hard. I don't doubt for one minute that it was an accident and she's explained to me that she was playing chase with them and the boy caught her and she just kicked out at him. I believe her completely as I know from watching her with play with her friends at school and at … [Read more...]
The Quick Crafts Club….
"Hi, my name is Cass and I am creatively challenged" Surely, I'm not the only mum in the world who is not very good at crafts, I make the effort and we actually do quite a lot of crafty things but not many of them turn out like they were supposed to. My favourite crafts are the ones that take hardly any preparation and as little mess as possible so I thought I would start a Quick Craft Club to share my mess free easy kids crafts with you each week. If you've got any ideas or would like me to feature you in the next Quick Craft Club then leave a link to your post in the comments … [Read more...]
