This week, we've been applying for the kids' NUS cards which is now called TOTUM membership. It was pretty easy to do so I thought I'd share how to get an NUS card if your children are at college or uni age like my two are now. When Miss Frugal first started college, the first thing she did was get her NUS card so she could start to benefit from all the discounts that are available and over the last couple of years, she's probably saved a fortune. Shops like New Look and Topshop were here favourite places to shop so the 10% off that they gave her was super welcome. The NUS card has … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did this week {13th August 2021}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. Hey! 👐1) The M&S food hall near us has started to do big bags of bananas that are about to turn for 25p later on a night - usually when I'm out on a driving lesson with Miss Frugal so twice this week we've practised parking in the car park outside M&S and then I've ran in and bought a bag of bananas! They're fab for two days and each bag has … [Read more...]
Thrifty Avocado and Banana Hair Mask….
I'm sure I've mentioned this before but Miss Frugal is a Pinterest and YouTube fiend! She loves to find DIY ideas for us to try out at home and although some of them turn out to be total fails, some turn out really well and we end up doing them again. This thrifty avocado and banana hair mask started out as one of her Pinterest finds and is now something we make regularly although we only ever make it with avocados that we find reduced as it wouldn't be too thrifty if we used a full price avocado! We also try and use the most battered looking banana in the fruit bowl too although I admit … [Read more...]

Ten ways to reuse your morning cuppa….
Did you know that tea bags can be used for more than just making a cup of tea? Or that coffee grounds can be put to use around your home and garden once you've brewed your morning coffee?Fun Fact* - I've never tried coffee. Ever. 😂 Our local Starbucks and a couple of local cafes do save their coffee grounds though so I do often manage to pick up a bag or two from their 'take what you need' baskets. *OK, not so much fun but it's definitely a fact. What else can you do with coffee grounds and used tea bags? Coffee grounds are amazing in a body scrub! Just add a quarter of … [Read more...]
