Are you dreading that stuck in a rut feeling, the hype and the excitement of Christmas are over and it’s time to go back to school, university or work?
If you are then you’re definitely not the only one and I have lots of posts coming in January that I guarantee will help you beat the dreaded January blues but today, I wanted to share a couple of ideas with you for you to keep in mind…
Get Active
OK, we know this is probably not on the top of your list of things to do but you’ll be surprised at how much better you’ll feel afterwards. As well as it being a great way to de-stress, it actually releases chemicals which makes you feel happier! It doesn’t have to be too intense, you could go for a walk, go to a yoga class, or go dancing, make sure it’s something you enjoy.
Be Social
Although the glum weather is good at persuading you to stay indoors and binge watch Netflix all day long, you should try to resist once or twice and meet friends for a drink or a meal. Even if it’s just a half hour chat, it can be very uplifting and cheer up your day. So, surround yourself with the people who make you laugh and smile and make the most of any free time.
Try Something New
A new year calls for new beginnings, why not take up a new hobby? See how you like it! You may find it boring and not want to continue (which is fine!) but you may also find something which you really enjoy and makes you happy. Something that you can invest time in and meet new people along the way!
Get Organised
Take the time out to get organised, re-evaluate your finances and ensure you aren’t missing out any opportunities which could allow you to save some money. You’re more than welcome to use my free financial planner to give yourself a head start.
Make future plans
Often, just having a plan to book something is enough to get the ball rolling! Whether you’re after a weekend city break in Europe or a two week beach holiday in the Caribbean, a holiday will really lift your spirits! Or how about a concert or a spa weekend with the girls? Having something like a holiday to look forward too gives you the motivation to push through the next few months. I definitely found the harder times last year with my Dad easier because I had things to look forward to and to focus on.
What about you – do you have any tried and tested ways to help you beat those January blues?
