Master Frugal is much happier at school lately, When I picked him up from school today, his teacher pulled me to one side and said that he is more like his old self now – he’s more sure of himself and is joining in with things a lot more.
I am so relieved because even though I know that it can be a big shock to some youngsters moving from nursery to full time school, I hated to think that he wasn’t happy at school.
It’s his fifth birthday in a couple of weeks, I’ve booked him a birthday party at the Wacky Warehouse. I was going to have a nice frugal party at home for a few of his friends but a lot of his friends have had their parties there and he was desperate to have his there too.
We are inviting 20 kids in total @ £5.99 per child. That includes the party bags, food and drink and an hours play in the ball pool so all in all it’s not too bad. Not very frugal mind but I think he deserves it….
My son's 5th birthday is in a few weeks too, and I'm desperately trying to be more frugal than ever. It's harder then I expected. I'm a new follower from Friday Follow.

For the first time ever we had a party away from the house this year for Isaac, a make your own pizza party at pizza hut, £6.99 a child and there were 8 altogether and it was great, the difference it made to be able to collect the cards and presents and kids and say goodbye and walk away from the mess, get home and have a relxing cup of tea, OK, I'm lying I still had a glass of wine but it wasnt because I 'NEEDED' a glass of wine to get through the clearing up! Got to say if we had the money to do it every year I would be sold on the idea. HOpe he has a great time x
Lol – I have difficulties when the kids have a friend over for tea so I know where you're coming from!
At least at the Wacky someone else is in charge and I can relax (kind of)
Doesn't say much for me, does it? Can't manage six five-year olds! Oh, well, I'm not too big to admit it.
Sometimes a package-deal party is the best way to go. I organized a party for my daughter's fifth birthday – only five guests, but I really needed a Valium when it was all over! From then on, we booked somewhere that had professionals to handle the stress.
