Mr Frugal and I have an ongoing battle of sorts about Master Frugal and his love of his sister’s toys.
Personally I think it’s only natural that he wants to play with Miss Frugal’s toys but Mr Frugal encourages him to play only with his own toys and tries to stop him from playing with what he sees as ‘girly’ toys.
For example, I’m quite happy to go for a walk with the kids both pushing pushchairs with dolls in them but Mr Frugal wouldn’t come with us if I let them do this! He thinks that girls should play with dolls and dress up and that boys should play with guns and cars and he actively tries to encourage this, whereas I just let them play with what they want.
In his defence I think his way of thinking stems back to when he was bullied as a youngster, he doesn’t want the kids to stand out in case they are singled out for bullying. I can see where he’s coming from but at their age I don’t think there’s any danger of that and I don’t agree that they should go through life thinking that they can’t be individuals who can go against the crowd.
Having said that, I was a bit concerned when Master Frugal came dowstairs on Boxing day this year dressed like this:
I’m saving this photo to get blown up for his 21st birthday party.
What are your thoughts on this, am I right or is Mr Frugal? Are anyone elses husbands as annoying like this or am I the only lucky one

In fact they also have little cleaning kits and an ironing board too. I am determined they are going to grow up to be capable men and a catch for any woman

D's fave colour has always been pink. He loves playing with the slightly younger girl next door and all her girly toys. Sometimes he's popped over from there wearing fairy costumes etc. It doesn't bother me. I just get out the camera and think "another one for the big birthday parties!".
In town one day after Christmas he found sparkly mans thong... ya know that tacky joke present kinda one? Well loudly asked me if he could have it.... PLEASEEEE. ANd of course, I said no to that one, but then when I got to the till, he'd slipped it into the basket and when I pulled it out he pleaded for me to let him have his sparkly underpants and that he swore he'd grow into them...! lol. I had to buy them then, ach they were only £1.
I remember goin to collect D one day from nursery, he was about 4 and they pulled me aside... turns out they were doing crafts and givign the boys blue paper and the girls pink... I seen what was gonna be said next. Well sort of. She tells me that D pleaded for a pink bit, and when told pink was for girls he adamantly said "but I *AM* a girl!!!". Oh his dad did not like that one bit!
I think it's just something some boys are like though! He's grown out of that a lot lately, more since starting school I guess. He's into more boyish things like Ben 10 etc. But he still likes the girly toys too though. His fave colour is still pink.
He's only 6. That's what I tell his father... he's only 6 let the child be a child.

Your husband sounds the same as mine - tries to get him to play with Action Men and typical boy toys. He is getting more into them like your little boy but is still just as happy playing with girly type toys.
His favourite colour changed from pink to green (Ben 10) every couple of days ;-)
Let a child be a child - couldn't agree more x

My younger son played shops and cooking with 'girls' toys endlessly and was really into his feminine side, now he's a scientist with a lovely compassionate nature, but very much a man's man.
So don't worry about your little one, let him have the freedom while he's young to play out his ideas, he'll soon be grown up and you can have many hours of fun embarrassing him then!!

Your boys sound like they are son's to be proud of, I hope mine grows up like that aswell.
I am going to continue to let him play with what he wants and I'll just tell my other half to shut up lol

I would love to do something like that ;-) Just to see their little faces.

Basically, I'm all for boys playing with whatever they want, we don't think it strange for girls to play with cars! Sam's favourite toy of the moment (and what prompted me to write about this) is his pink pram & dolly. I just love the look on his Dad's face when Sam pushes dolly around the living room. Especially if he's also wearing my shoes.
There's nothing wrong with it. In a few years they'll be digusted at the thought of playing with dolls etc. Let them enjoy it for now! It won't hurt. No matter what myhusband tries to tell me.
Love that pic by the way!

You're right - he'll be horrified at the thought of dolls at some point in a few years so I'll have to make the most of the picture opportunities now ;-)
