We went camping a few years ago and had an amazing weekend – we barbecued, played family rounders, had a couple of great trips out, had water fights and in general, had some good old fashioned family fun. It was so much fun and amazing value for money considering it cost less than £40 for all of us to over the long Bank Holiday weekend.
The one thing I wasn’t keen on though were the nights and I can honestly say that I got hardly any sleep between two wriggling children, a snoring husband whose snores seem to be magnified 10x in the great outdoors and various trips to the toilets across a field with children who rather inconveniently didn’t need a wee when the other one did.
The lack of sleep is the reason why we haven’t actually been camping since despite the children’s best efforts to persuade me. They’re desperate to go camping again but the thought of the long uncomfortable nights tossing and turning on an uncomfortable air bed are putting me off.
One thing I would consider though is going ‘glamping’ which seems to be a more luxurious version of camping – some of the pictures I’ve seen of people glamping have made it look nicer than actual hotels that I’ve stayed in before!
It seems that by glamping instead of camping, I’ll get to put a tick in the ‘comfort’ box and the kids can still tick the ‘fun outdoors’ and ‘adventure’ boxes.
And as luck would have it, the love people from Get The Label have just told me about their competition to win a glamping break with them along with a £75 Get The Label voucher and a glamping survival kit. All you need to do is fill in your details on their competition page here.
Good Luck!
Disclosure: I’ll be receiving a glamping survival kit for sharing this competition with you all.

Glamping, for sure. It sounds great. The last time I went camping was in the 60s and a Girl Guide!!!

It's definitely glamping for me as I like the experience to be a close to home comforts as possible.
Hi, we camped for years when the children were small, they went to bed still dirty and exhausted at the end of the day, I found I slept well enough. I avoided sites with pools, bars or facilities and did 'rustic' then we got lots of quiet. We also picked places with no electric hook ups. now? I rent a small apartment in Brittany for £350 a week in the peak season and usually find some where for about £175 a week off season. I go there because it's affordable.
I would definitely prefer to go glamping
I always pack ear plugs 🙂 Can you rent a very small cabin or caravan, and bring your necessities? Sometimes that is more comfortable.
We are in Canada, surrounded by forest and lakes. We have a hard shell camper that sits in the bed of our truck. It has a bed, tiny kitchenette and a basic toilet. We are dry and comfy and have somewhere to get away from the bugs.
Hope you find a way to make it work.
I'm a camper due to funds! Although that said my children rarely wake in the night when camping, it is usually me tramping off across to the toilet block! And I don't have a hubby snoring in my ear 😉
We did glamp last year- I got a cheap last minute deal so we went for it. It was good. We went in April and the heater in the pod was definitely appreciated in the evening/ early morning. I would glamp again, just need to find another bargian/ somehow manage to earn more money!
