Nothing too exciting on the menu for this week but you can tell that the weather's getting colder because the slow cooker is working overtime this week as five out of our seven dinners will be cooked using it!Last week I took part in bit of a trial of the new Tesco Brand Guarantee which is the initiative that gives you money off your shopping there and then if you could have bought your shop cheaper elsewhere. The Tesco Brand Guarantee will ensure that you never have to pay more for your weekly shop by price matching your branded shop against the price you would pay in Asda, Morrisons and … [Read more...]

Five UN-Frugal things I’ve done this week {9th October 2015}….
Every week I tell you about five frugal things I've done to save some money and whilst some things might not be as frugal as others, everything I share is something that I think is frugal or thrifty for one reason or another. But I wanted to do something a bit different this week, I wanted to share some things I've done that aren't very frugal at all - not because I haven't done anything frugal but because I don't want you to think that I'm some sort of frugal wonder-woman who excels in all areas of frugal-ness (is that even a word).1. I know I've called this post 'getting prepared for Winter' but what I actually mean is getting ready for the colder weather! As the temperatures start to drop throughout October, more and more people will be starting to turn their heating on, and that's OK. This week’s meal plan {5 October 2015}….
Check me out!Two week's running that I've posted an actual meal plan that looks all pretty and isn't scrawled on the back of an envelope or a (usually important not to be scribbled on) letter from school! As always, I'm not going to go through our meals day by day but I will tell you why we'll we be eating a few of the things that we'll be eating:The chilli has been in the freezer for a while now as I made double last time we ate it! I'll get it out on Sunday night and either serve it with rice or wraps (yummy but messy).Fish pie is something that I used to cook quite … [Read more...]
Car Boot Sale Bargains….
Yesterday we had a lovely lie in (9am is totally a lie in isn't it?) followed by a family breakfast of bacon sandwiches and brown sauce (which is the only sauce that should be eaten with a bacon bun) and then we sat down to have our usual Sunday morning 'what shall we do today' chat. This discussion usually consists of us all sharing an idea on what we want to do and the idea that gets the least argument wins it!After turning down a walk in the woods, a visit to a castle and a pyjama day (my choice as I've not been feeling great recently) we decided to go to the car boot sale. The only … [Read more...]
