OK, so the title may be a bit over-dramatic but there are some really common and easy to make mistakes that lots of us make with our budgets and I wonder how many of them you can identify with? Here's my seven deadly sins of budgeting.... Not actually having a budget written down. It’s hard to stick to your budget if you don’t actually know what your budget is so it’s always worth taking the time to calculate what your budget is and then revisiting it every few months to make sure it’s still working for you. There’s a handy guide here on how to work out your budget as well as a free … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {7th August 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week: OK, I’m going to hold my hands up and admit that I don’t think I’ve actually done five frugal things this week. Or at least I haven’t done five absolute stand out frugal things this week so there is a very good chance that I may have to change the title of this post by the time I finish writing it.Not a big deal really but I’ve made a real effort to take my lunch to work with me this week. I’ve gotten out of this habit a little bit while the kids have been off school, probably due to our complete lack of routine at the moment. I’m at the stage … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {31st July 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. You might have read my post yesterday about our weekend of family fun in Manchester last weekend and if you did then I'm sure you're wondering why on earth I'm referring to out not-so-frugal annual trip in my five frugal things post. It's actually because, whilst our trip was far from frugal because of the things we did while we were away, it was more frugal than you might think all things considered. Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. I bought some back to school stationery today in Tesco as it was half price. I even managed to stock up on the pens that you can rub out (an essential piece of kit according to Miss Frugal) as well as some packs of school pencils reduced from £3.60 a pack to just £1.50. I've cleared a drawer in the unit to store them until just before they go back otherwise there's be no trace of them come the start of September!2. We're going away this weekend and the thought of the usual arguments over how we get there almost drove me to buy a sat nav … [Read more...]
Super smooth lips – the frugal way….
We've all heard about the benefits of body and face exfoliation, haven't we?But what do you know about lip scrubs and lip exfoliation? Do you know for example that a lip scrub will remove the dead skin from the surface of your lips leaving them soft. And as if that wasn't enough, having super smooth lips with a smooth surface will make your lipsticks, lip liner, and lip gloss last longer than before as it adheres much better to smooth lips.Aaaaand, if you're still not sold then I'm sure that you will be after I tell you that lip exfoliation makes your lips moister (is that a word?) … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {17th July 2015}….
I haven't really had time to be frugal or otherwise this week as it's been another chaotic week for one reason or another but I'll try and see if I can think of five things.... Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. I've spent half an hour this morning driving round town - stopping at the leisure centre, the museum and the youth centre to get their Summer Holiday leaflets. Tonight I'm going to sit and make a plan of action for the next week as I have a lovely week off to spend with the kids.2. Speaking of activities, one thing on our list was ice skating and this notification … [Read more...]
