Homemade gifts can not only save you money but they can also show the person you give them to just how much you've thought about the gift you're giving them. I've got lots of ideas for homemade gifts this Christmas but today, we're starting with some ideas for mason jar gifts.Mason Jars are traditionally used for preserving and canning food but I use them for all sorts in my house. In my kitchen alone I've used the smaller sized jars to store my homemade applesauce in and I have lots of them in my cupboard filled with everything from flour to porridge oats and I even have one filled … [Read more...]
Free Poster Maker: Reasons to be thankful….
I'm trying to find more uses for my free Christmas poster maker tool so today, I'm sharing a lovely idea for a poster to share all of the things in your life that you're thankful for. This year more than ever, I've come to realise that no matter what's going on in our lives, there is always something to be thankful for - I know that sometimes you just have to look a little harder for it but there's always something. Easier said than done I know but this is something that's got me through a difficult year so humour me for a few minutes. ;-)I used the poster maker to … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did this week {16 November 2018}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. Before I start though, I do want to say that being frugal to me is about getting the best value for our money - it's not about doing without for us or about not having nice things. We all have different financial situations and we're all frugal for different reasons - we're frugal so we can afford to do nice things together.1) I made a batch of my homemade orange peel cleaning … [Read more...]
Five (kind of) Frugal Things we did last week in Los Angeles {9 November 2018}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. Before I start though, in case you don't already know, I should say that when we originally booked our trip to LA we chose a mid-range hotel that was nowhere near as nice as the one we ended up in. We were upgraded after an issue with the hotel we booked led to us making a complaint and ultimately ended up in an amazing hotel in a much better location. The fact that we were … [Read more...]
Five super simple meals made using the veg from our veg box….
You might have read in a post recently that I've signed up for a regular vegetable box delivery with a local company which is something I've wanted to do for ages. The main reason I kept putting it off was that I didn't know if I'd be able to incorporate all the vegetables we got into meals - I worried that I'd end up wasting food which is totally against what I wanted. It hasn't been that way at all though and with a lot of creative thinking, we've used up everything (apart from the three corn on the cobs that I gave away) so today, I thought I'd show you a few of the meals we've cooked … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did last weekend {2 November 2018}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. So, before we start, I should tell you that I'm currently in LA with Miss Frugal and I actually wrote this post last Sunday, hence the slightly different post title this week. Travel is one of our family's main motivations for being frugal and trips like this really do make it all worthwhile. It's just me and Miss Frugal for this trip as the boys weren't overly keen on the long … [Read more...]
