This year I've been trying to get a bit more creative and learning to make my own soap was something I've wanted to do for a while so today, I'm sharing my first attempt - Honey and Oatmeal Soap!I always thought homemade soap would be too much of a faff for me but a little while ago I was buying some shea butter from Amazon for another project when I came across 'Melt and Pour Soap Base' which is amazing! It's literally a soap base that comes in cubes which you just need to melt, add your other ingredients and then pour it into your moulds.I bought my soap moulds for under £2.00 … [Read more...]
Why you shouldn’t panic if your debit card is declined….
You don't necessarily need to panic if your debit card is declined as there are lots of reasons why your payment might not have gone through!Last week, I was trying to pay for my shopping with my debit card and the machine came up with the dreaded 'not authorised' message. My heart sank immediately and I felt a little bit sick - a feeling not helped by the fact that the lady serving me might as well have put a tannoy out as she was that loud when she announced to the world that my payment had been declined.I quickly grabbed my other card out of my bag and the payment went through … [Read more...]

1) We've finally got around to selling our old car which we were planning to sell for spares and repair or scrap as it's got issues and is now out of it's MOT. I got a quote for £50 from one of those we buy any car businesses and they are the hassle-free version so I was super tempted just to go with them and save time and hassle. I decided to spend half an hour shopping around though and managed to find someone who offered £150 and collected within the hour which was fantastic. We only paid about £600 for the car about three years ago as it is just to get Mr Frugal to work and back (just … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {23rd February 2018}….
1) I love starting these posts with some lovely bargain flowers whenever I can because I just love having fresh flowers in my house. I tend to pop to the shop for them specifically on a night specifically through the week and I try not to pay for than a pound or two for the flowers that I buy. I seem to have mastered the timing for our local supermarket to get there just after they do the last reductions which is around 7.30 in the evening for my shop. This is actually 3 bunches of daffodils that were reduced to 25p a bunch.I used to think of fresh flowers as a waste of money but … [Read more...]
How to make butter from cream….
Have you ever tried making homemade butter from cream? I hadn't until recently but now that I have, I'm a huge fan!I don't know about you but I often come across yellow stickered cream in the supermarket reduced section at the end of the day but I tend to just leave it there because I'm unsure how well it freezes and I had no idea what else to do with it to use it up on the day I buy it. I can't be the only one because cartons of double cream are a regular in the reduced section in our supermarket and it's often reduced massively - maybe because it's something that's often left on … [Read more...]
