Miss Frugal has gone avocado mad lately and would have Avocado toast for every meal if I let her. When we found ourselves with a bit of an avocado overload last weekend, we decided to switch it up a bit and make avocado brownies!First of all, I want to tell you how we ended up with so many avocados because we all know that they're not a particularly cheap thing to buy. Morrisons have started selling wonky fruit and vegetables and I found a pack of wonky avocados which had about five for £1.56 so I bought a pack but forgot we already had a two pack at home. We've been meaning to … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {3 November 2017}….
1) I bought some cheap white clay from Amazon and have used my £6 pack to make everything from coasters to Christmas decorations!I shared the Christmas decorations on Wednesday and I'm planning to share a few of the other things I've made this month but in the meantime, I'm going to class my purchase of the white clay as my first fabulously frugal thing for this week. ;-)2) I've started my Christmas cupboard this week although, due to the fact my cupboards are jam-packed right now, my Christmas cupboard is actually a big box in the garage. As a rule, I don't generally over-shop … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {27th October 2017}….
1) I've printed out a batch of my 'No Halloweeners here' sign for some friends who have young children that they don't want disturbing after a certain time. You can print one off for yourself if you'd like to here.I've seen that you can buy them in shops for a couple of pounds but it costs me pennies to print one off for them and it saves the stress of hoping that each knock isn't going to wake the kids up.2) I've made a batch of my homemade Halloween chocolate bark this week using a cheap pack of Halloween sweets that I got from the pound shop. I use value chocolate when I make … [Read more...]
Using milk paints to upcycle furniture….
Today I'm going to share how you can upcycle a table using milk paints, something I learned at a class I went along to recently as part of my mission to create every day and spend a little more time on me!I love the idea of using milk paints, which is something I hadn't even heard of until I went to the Festival of Thrift last month but now that I've tried it, I'll definitely be using it again! Basically, milk paint is a non-toxic paint which contains no additives or distillates that can cause any harm to people, pets or the environment. It's made from iron oxide pigment, milk casein … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {20th October 2017}….
1) I bought a couple of Christmas gifts that I found reduced massively from about £8 to £1. I can't tell you what they are because blogs have ears but they're going to make a great addition to a little beauty hamper I'm making for Miss Frugal for Christmas Eve.2) I've been exercising lately, like real exercise that makes your face go red and your heart beat faster and I know, I'm just as shocked as you are. After we cleared out the garage and bought a few bits of exercise equipment for the kids I thought I'd give it a go myself and I'm pleased to report that I'm managing to do between 3 … [Read more...]
How Snowballing your debts will help you pay them off quicker AND save you money….
Have you heard the term 'snowballing' in relation to paying off any credit cards or store cards that you might have? Today, I'm going to tell you how snowballing your debts will help you to not only pay them off quicker but also save you money along the way!I'm sure you've guessed by now that snowballing your debts has nothing to do with the fun you can have outside when it snows or even the lovely snowball cocktails that my lovely old Nana used to make - although I'm not going to lie, it would be lovely if either of these things would help pay off your debts in any way at all, … [Read more...]
