We're actually away right now which isn't very money saving but we did do a few things to keep the price of our break way down so I thought I'd tell you about them today....1) We've managed to get away a few times this year thanks to a LOT of shopping around and some flexibility with airports and dates. Our holiday to Milan earlier this year cost us a little over £400 in a 4* hotel because we looked at airports we wouldn't usually flight from, in this case Edinburgh. This time, we booked in advance and looked nationwide so we might be flying from Heathrow but we got return flights for the … [Read more...]
Five reasons why you don’t meal plan….
If you already plan your meals in advance then this post probably isn't for you but if you don't you really should read on because planning your meals will save you time and money every single week!1) I don't have time! OK, I get that meal planning can take a little bit of time once a week but it's totally worth it for the time you save during the rest of the week.I spend about twenty minutes on a Sunday morning having a quick look at what food we already have in and writing a meal plan based on that which I then use to write my shopping list. That extra time on a Sunday morning … [Read more...]
The Festival of Thrift 2017
Every year for the past four or five years we've visited the brilliant Festival of Thrift. Here's what we thought of this year's festival....The Festival of Thrift has been held every year for the last four or five years and I've been going since the second year it was held so it feels like a bit of an annual event now. Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {29th September 2017}….
1) This week we've been really trying to focus on No Spend Days and we've managed 3 since Sunday which is great for us - it would have been more but we had an unexpected school trip to pay for and I wanted to buy some flowers this morning as it would have been my brother's Birthday today. Tomorrow won't be a no spend day as I need to pop to the shop to get some things for our holiday next week but 3 out of 7 will do me for this week.If you want to focus on No Spend Days then I have a little no spend tracker you might like to use here.2) I've topped up my Kindle with free books … [Read more...]

I've just given my kitchen a super quick, super cheap budget makeover and I'm so pleased with it!We've got a few things that we want doing around the house over the next few months and to be honest, the kitchen wasn't even on my makeover radar until lovely Mr Frugal got out the paint one Friday night a few weeks ago and painted it a lovely clean white for me. We haven't painted it since we moved in so it was in desperate need of a refresh and seeing it look all white and lovely makes me very happy! We do have bigger plans for the … [Read more...]
