I don't tend to think of the meals I cook in terms of how much they cost per portion because I often use food that I get reduced or things that I already have in the house but an article I read a while ago shared a few recipes that cost under 50p a portion.Lots of people were commenting how great it was that you could cook meals so cheaply but I must admit that I did look at some of the ideas and the tiny portion sizes and think that I could do better. But could I do better - is it really possible to feed a family of 4 on a £2 meal budget and still make sure that what you're serving is … [Read more...]

OK, so the title may be a bit over-dramatic but there are some really common and easy to make mistakes that lots of us make with our budgets and I wonder how many of them you can identify with? Here's my seven deadly sins of budgeting.... Not actually having a budget written down. It’s hard to stick to your budget if you don’t actually know what your budget is so it’s always worth taking the time to calculate what your budget is and then revisiting it every few months to make sure it’s still working for you. What won’t you give up to become debt free?
Lots of us have debt of some kind – be it a credit card, store card, a loan of some sort or even just a mortgage. Most of us will be able to manage the debt we have and can make the monthly payments each month with no real concerns but should we be satisfied by that? Happy New Year!I bet lots of New Years resolutions have been made this week, many of which will involve saving money in one form or another so I'm hoping that there's going to be lots of entries this month.I was a bit sill last month and I didn't set the dates on the linky right so it was only open for a couple of days rather than the full month - I've checked and double checked this month so it should be OK! ;-)I really do want people to see that being frugal and thrifty isn't the same as being tight or stingy and that there are some many easy and fun ways to save money so the … [Read more...]
