What's the difference between a good old fashioned fairy cake and a cupcake?Google tells me that a cupcake originated in America and is slightly larger that the British fairy cake. Cupcakes are also usually made with a richer, thicker icing. Apparently.I'm more of a fairy cake girl and I use my Nana's favourite recipe - the same one that I've been using since I was about six when I first started baking with her. I've known it off by heart since before I knew my times tables at school. But recently, my fairy cakes have been looking like a bit of a poor relation when I've been … [Read more...]
Chocolate Marshmallow Fluff cake….
We have found the most delicious new treat to use in our baking - Marshmallow Fluff. It's basically just spreadable fluffy marshmallow goo but it tastes delicious, and is really versatile - we've used it in cakes, hot chocolate, melted as an ice cream topping, on toast and actually, just eaten off the spoon straight out of the jar. It's really sweet and a little bit really does go a long way.Two tablespoons has 40 calories and no fat which isn't bad considering how sweet it tastes and the jar itself cost us about £1.80 if I remember rightly. On a Sunday night, I usually make … [Read more...]

Homemade Snowman Soup {with a free printable tag}….
Snowman soup is one of my favourite things about Christmas! We've been making our version of snowman soup, both as a treat for us and as a little homemade gift for family and friends, ever since the kids were very little and it's become one of our favourite family traditions.I'm a fan of making snowman soup as a gift for people because (a) it doesn't cost much to make, (b) it's fun and a little bit unusual and most importantly of all, (c) it's really easy to make yet it doesn't have to look homemade.I do love the idea of homemade Christmas gifts but I must admit that when I make … [Read more...]
